Arianna's Fangirly Blog for the 16th of July, 2010
I could start by telling you about the ferry ride, the car ride back home, how I pretty much deleted the new TwigAdopts, my amazing birthday… but no. Instead, I'll happily be a fangirl for a few seconds.
Since yesterday (evening) I've read three books. The Cinderella Society - boring, predictable, cliched. Three stars. But then, everything got better. Have you ever read Perfect Chemistry? If you haven't, you're seriously missing something. It and Girl at Sea are arguing for the first spot on my favorite books list right now; I just finished Girl at Sea and gosh, I am giddy.
Starting with Girl at Sea, possible spoilers. OH MY GOSH CAN I MARRY AIDAN? He is so perfect. He even likes computers! And Clio is so funny. They make the perfect couple, except for, you know, I could totally be Clio and I'd be (more than) fine with that. Except for, you know, without the tattoo. She's seventeen and has a tattoo. Her dad's cool… or just weird. Anyway, Aidan! He's such a jerk at the beginning of the story but then he's really nice and… -swoons- If I say the story is perfect, will you believe me?
And then, Perfect Chemistry? It's also amazing. It's not as fresh in my mind, because I finished it at like five, but still. If you don't read it you're seriously missing out. The Alex/Brittany pairing is so perfect. Alex (who's real name is Alejandro) is so… wait, what does that censor to on Twig? Anyway, you probably knew what I was going to say. But, he's so nice too. When he's not having to be a gang member. >.> If I say anything more I'll spoil the book. What the book is about, you ask? I'm too lazy to sum it up so just read about it on Amazon. Just a warning, though, if you do decide to read it (which I really hope you do): there's a LOT of swearing. But you get used to it. And, ahem, maturity, too. Not just, like, violence. But there's nothing of bad taste. It's a phenomenal book.
-shudders- The Cinderella Society just was not fun to read. Not at all. I wouldn't recommend it. And Ryan (-cough-theloveinterest-cough-) was boring and mean and even though he wasn't a jerk, I much preferred Aidan.
Okay, lemme continue going backwards. Today all I did was read. I hardly went on the computer, and I want to read more. Thing is, it's just past ten and I haven't even blogged yet - you know, thus the fact that I'm writing this right now.
And yesterday was my BIRTHDAY! I am now official fourteen, the age where I'm old enough to read books labeled 'fourteen and up'. It's not like I haven't been doing that before, just like I was reading 'for teenagers' books way before I was thirteen, but still. I got seven books (more to come!) and some money (yay!) and paintings from my brother and sister, and a bracelet, and some things from family friends, and some clothes. But even better, I got a Nook! You know, from Barnes and Nobles! The e-reader! I haven't got it yet, but I'm going to get it when we go to America. I can't wait to get it.
Hmm… well, for the good portion of this week I sat at the computer. Does that surprise you that much? Also, on my last evening of being 13, I did the stupidest thing anyone can do - I deleted the whole TwigAdopts database.
Now luckily, this was not the one on the actual website. It was the one which had been being changed and added to and picked over for weeks, the one which was supposed to help me launch TA 2.0 really soon. And I deleted the whole thing. If I learned one lesson, it's either 'always make backups' or 'never, ever, ever click on the delete button'. Ugh.
Also, I went to the orthodontist. It was okay. I'm getting braces on the 30th of August. -shrugs- I just hope they don't hurt too much. I had x-rays taken of my head (I had to wear a lead-filled vest, which was REALLY heavy) and also had a mold kind of thing which tasted like raspberry which I had to bite on to take an imprinty thing of my mouth. But it was okay. I think.
And then, on the weekend we came back to Austria via ferry and car. It was okay. The ferry was boring and we had bunks this time, rather than an (admittedly freezing) awesome room. But it's only transportation, I guess. Then we ate breakfast and wandered around when we docked, and then we drove our car for about six hours (intermingled with gas station and restaurant stops) back home.
That was my week in reverse order. I think I much prefer doing it that way. That could also just be because I'm sort of in a really-smiley mood about the end of Girl at Sea. Or, specifically… -counts pages- 19 pages before the end. And also, the end of Perfect Chemistry. Before the epilogue. The second to last chapter. Things like that make me want to jump up and down and clap my hands.
Weeeell, look at that. I haven't got anything left to say. And now that I think about it, I'd love to write some fanfiction. About Girl at Sea, because it's a lighter and fluffier and less serious (by a LOT) read than Perfect Chemistry. Perfect Chemistry is actually better, though, it's just a read Girl at Sea really, really, really recently and so it's the main thing on my mind.
Anyway. This blog was probably an undecipherable heap of rambling, which is totally all my fault, but I don't really care. It's a blog and I enjoyed writing it, but I'm actually more enjoying starting another book. Though I really should wait until tomorrow, because if I don't I'll end up having all of the books I got for my birthday done by the day after tomorrow. -ponders- You know, I'm just going to start reading one. That sounds much more fun.
Adios!

Oooh. Aidan sounds awesome. I have to read Girl at Sea, most definitely. :3 I was actually thinking about reading The Cinderella Society another time you mentioned it.
Aw. That sucks about TA. Dx

He is. Except for, he's sort of (really) a jerk at first. xD
If you liked the Clique, you should totally read TCS. It has a lot of shopping and obsessing over guys. If not, then you can still read it. xD
Yeah, but I'm over it. Sorta.

I hate jerks. But, he still seems worth it. :3
I wasn't that big of a fan of Clique, since they were all too.... Girly and perfect. But I'm gonna try it.
That's good, atleast you won't make that mistake again.

Re: Arianna's Fangirly Blog for the 16th of July, 2010
Perfect Chemistry. o_O OMGOMG. That's the book I started reading last year! I never finished, though, cus that's when I got weirded out by . . . um, well, the interesting things I was reading about. XD Maybe I should go back now that I've lost some of my innocence. Hmmm . . .
Re: Arianna's Fangirly Blog for the 16th of July, 2010
Yay, Ratty!
It's PERFECT! What's wrong with it? Well except for the swear words and maturity and stuff. It's all pefectly fiiiiiiiiiiiine.
Were you weirded out by the bet? You're the kind of person who'd be weirded out by that. But ever fear. -spoiler, sorta- HE LOVES HER.
And don't you think Alex is hoooooot? ^^ No? Ugh. xD
(This is what you get when I fall in love with... four fictional characters at once. xD)

Re: Arianna's Fangirly Blog for the 16th of July, 2010
Lol, it was the maturity that got to me. XD I was like, "Ewww! Sick! *blushing*" So after a chapter or two, I decided that I couldn't handle it. It wasn't even the bet . . . just when he wrote her that little note when they were supposed to be telling each other about themselves. xD Seriously, I couldn't handle even the mention of that stuff when I was reading it.
But yes, actually, I do think he's hot. x)

Re: Arianna's Fangirly Blog for the 16th of July, 2010
He usually isn't that bad. I laughed at the note. It didn't really bother me, I guess. They make such a cute couple, and the book really goes upwards from there. It's a great read. I demand you read it.

Re: Arianna's Fangirly Blog for the 16th of July, 2010
All right, all right, if you insist. xD I'll go write it down on my library list right now.
Re: Arianna's Fangirly Blog for the 16th of July, 2010
Yay! I'm sure you'll LOVE it. I hope you're not so bothered about stuff like the note anymore. xD
I really, really want to get the sequel. I'd say something about it but then I'd be saying where I used to live and where I will live, so... -sighs- xD

Re: Arianna's Fangirly Blog for the 16th of July, 2010
Lol, yeah, I don't think I need to worry about that anymore. xD Not after last Nanowrimo.
:O Woah, wait, so it has a sequel?!
Speaking of sequels, what was the third LAWKI book again? xD

Re: Arianna's Fangirly Blog for the 16th of July, 2010
I was going to write something about how it evened out to the level of Desperate, but it does have a bit more swearing. More frequently, not worse words. xD Other than that, I'd give them both the same maturity rating, mostly.
Yeah, it does. Rules of Attraction.
This World We Live In. It's the best one. Because it has romaaaaaaaaance.
Oooh, have you seen my book blog yet? The one you named?

Re: Arianna's Fangirly Blog for the 16th of July, 2010
That sorta made me crack up, because that's really bad if I wrote something so mature. XDD
:O Woah, epic. I need to read it!
Okay! :3 Yeah, I really wanna read that one too, but I couldn't figure out what the name was. xD
OMGWHATWHERE?!
Oh, there's a link! xD Riiiiight. *cilcks*

Re: Arianna's Fangirly Blog for the 16th of July, 2010
Okay, just don't read pages 308 to 315, assuming you read the paperback. Then you'll be fine. Well, maybe other pages, too, haha. But it's nothing /really/ bad. xD Maybe it's just because I'm more 'mature' now. xD
You haven't even read the first one yet, but yes, you do! I need to, too. But I have to order it, or get it in America. Maybe on my Nook.
You're so smart, Ado. -shakes head-

:O . . . hmm, I don't know if I'll be able to do that. Now you've piqued my curiosity.
xDD Lol, of course I'd read it after the first one.
Oh why thank you! I'm glad you noticed!
Lol, seriously though, that's an awesome blog. :3 I'm definitely gonna be watching it.

>D
Actually, you could read it before, too. Just saying. They're rather different, but one happens after the other. And they have different main characters. I don't think I'll like Carlos as much as Alex. >.> Kiara sounds cool, though.
I know it's boring right now but it'll get better later. I sure hope.
Oh my, it's raining A LOT. As in, pouring. And there's thunder which makes the sky purple. Just felt like pointing that out, for whichever reason.

Oh, hmm, okay. If it doesn't have Alex, I don't know that I'll want to read it as much. xDD
It is not boring. XD
DUDE DUDE LUCKY! I wish I could have some rain . . .

Yeah, I know. But Tuck sounds really, really awesome from the preview there was at the end of Perfect Chemistry. The only thing is that he's gay. Which isn't a bad thing, except for you can't exactly be all fangirly about him. Well, you can, but... xD
YAY RAIN! Did I ever mention how much I love rain? (Yes, I know I did. I really love it.) It's still hot, though.
Ado, have you ever read anything by Maureen Johnson? ^^

Re: Arianna's Fangirly Blog for the 16th of July, 2010
. . . but unless you write a fanfiction about him in which author manipulation is used to make him realize he's straight, there's no way you can even dream of ending up with him. xD
Yes, I love rain too! :3 But I love Rain even more, I do believe.
Can't say I have, unfortunately. xD

Re: Arianna's Fangirly Blog for the 16th of July, 2010
You know, that doesn't sound like that bad of an idea.
I know, I know. I think I still like rain more than Rain, though. xD
You totally should. I got three books by her for my birthday. Devilish, 13 Little Blue Envelopes, and Girl at Sea. So far, Girl at Sea is the best one. ^^ And then there's also The Bermudez Triangle and Suite Scarlett and The Key to the Golden Firebird, but I haven't got those. Yet.

Yay! Can I call myself a genius?
You know, we might have Rain today. :O (See what I did there? Double meaning, oh yeah.)
Okay! xD I'll see if I can find Girl at Sea at the library as well, then. You really make it sound good, lol.

Re: Arianna's Fangirly Blog for the 16th of July, 2010
Sure, if you want to. xD
Lovely. xD
Yay! I really, really, really like Girl at Sea. I read half of another book by Maureen Johnson today, but it was not as good. If I was not polite and well-behaved like I am I would say it sucked. Instead, I'll say that perhaps the fact that the last six books I read had nothing to do with fantasy in them had something to do with it. Maybe I'm not used to devils and cupcakes and stilted dialog and boring characters. And maybe I should stop rambling. xD

*ahem*
I am a genius.
Lol, that does sound . . . um . . . interesting. xD I think I'm going to just stick to Girl at Sea, haha, and if I like it I'll scour the library shelves for the other books by her.

Yeah, you totally are, Shadow. Hey, what's the square root of ten multiplied by two hundred seventy one plus pi, to ten significant figures? No calculators!
Well, it might be the best book ever. Maybe the first half is just... not the best-book-ever-ish. I guess. xD
