~Wolves of Blood Moon

*Note- I wrote this...like...last year? I suppose my writing got better. And then, I just like, got this urge to try and finish up this little story of mine...*

((*A lot of violent flash-backs; some mild gore*))


Prologue

7 years ago

Under a blood-red moon, the leader of the Wolves of Venothaya howled. His shimmery silver coat glowed with a pale sheen, as his piercing, icy eyes stared at the rest of the pack.

“This wolf, the one who has betrayed us, shall be banned, to live among the weak, upon the Earth.”

The leader pointed a gleaming gold claw at the bedraggled heap of fur and muddied feathered wings and proclaimed:

“You, Athtar, why have you met with the enemy for three moons?”

The young wolf raised his head, green eyes gleaming with fury, hatred, and misery.

“Belanor, you know we're all at the mercy of the-” the wolf's ragged croak was cut off by a vicious snarl from the leader.

“Do not tell me what I know or do not know!” Belanor growled. He turned “Silverna, come.” he commanded. The young sorceress of the Wolves came forward, her shiny black pelt, paired with her sharp silver eyes, hence her name, blended in with the night. She dropped the seven ivory talismans that were to be used that very night. Reluctance was written all over her face, but she dared not refuse.

“Do it, now.” Belanor's voice, cold and steely rung through the night. Athtar, cringed, he had seen Banishments, but had never wanted to ever experience one. Silverna moved the talismans with a paw and began to take up the ancient hum that had been sung multiple times at the Banishments. Moving them into a triangle, the talismans began to glow an eerie red, reflecting off all the gathered wolves' faces. Ropes of the red light began to collect together and formed an orb around Athtar.

“As long as you stay among the Mystical on Earth, you will keep this from.” said Silverna. Athtar began to change, his once white feathery wings were becoming leathery and black. His chocolaty brown coat was becoming coarse. The last thing Athtar saw as he sank into unconsciousness, was the triumphant look Belanor's face as he watched Athtar vanish from his domain on the Kingdom of the Red Moon.

Part One

Clunk...clunk. Athtar spun around, red eyes wide.

"Who's there?" he snarled into the darkness, he tried to spread his wings, he couldn't. What? He looked up and tried to suppress a howl of horror. The tip of his silver, leathery wing was being enfolded by darkness. A sneer of laughter came from the darkness in front of him. Belanor stepped forward, a malicious gleam in his eyes.

"Just because I banished you, doesn't mean I forgive you for what you've done." he laughed, sharp teeth gleaming. He stepped forward. Athtar let out his suppressed howl, filled with fright and fury.

Athtar jerked awake, sweating with fear. he looked around the cave and got up. Just a dream. He shivered and got out of the cave. He looked around the serene wooded forest around him. Ever since he had been banished to live with the Mysticals on the Earth, he had had dreams of Belanor coming back to haunt him. He looked around and shuddered. What if Belanor did come back? What would he do?

Pushing those dark thoughts aside, he looked around at the sights and sounds of the land of the Mysticals. He sighed, he'd never get used to seeing all these strange things.

Part One and a Half

Pushing past the thin, silvery vines that adorned the trees like tinsel, Athtar nosed his way into another clearing. He stopped, wings quivering. "Who's there?" he rasped in a broken, whisper.

A hairy little fellow wakes up in the middle of the night, lets out a howl, and jumps out the window. In the morning, his parents find a dead wolf.

And the boy is standing beside it.

Then a KABILLION wolves come out and kill the boy and his parents.
