ratty's Poem Book! *UPDATE 7/4*
I have a ton of poems saved on my computer from when I went through a poem phase a couple months ago, so... yeah. Also, none of these are based off my life in any way. Just making that clear.
Maturity: Uh... it's different for each one, but not too bad.
Fantasy: I don't think there's any...
~
You push, you tease,
You call me Shorty as you please.
You idiot,
I’m in love with you.
Can’t you see how I look at you,
Talk to you, follow you around like a dog?
You idiot,
I’m in love with you.
I beg for attention like a little kid,
You never spare a glance except to tell me what I did.
You idiot,
I’m in love with you.
You hate me, loathe me,
And still I can’t stay away.
You idiot,
I’m in love with you.
And maybe one day, when you open up your eyes,
You’ll finally see that
You idiot,
I’m in love with you.
~
~
You’re sitting on the other side,
While I’m waiting here for you.
You get up and you walk away.
Not a thing I thought you’d ever do.
Why did you have to leave?
I waited such a long time.
But you just threw me away;
When I thought you were sublime.
I get across, I follow you,
You turn your face away.
But I’m still waiting here for you,
In case you come back someday.
~
~
I sit here on the pier,
Always wondering if you are growing near.
I'm missing you...
Please come home.
Waiting for you to come back,
So my life won’t be so very black.
I'm missing you...
Please come home.
I’ve been so sad since you left,
And in my heart there is a cleft.
I'm missing you...
Please come home.
Why did you have to go?
You promised you’d be back before it snowed.
I'm missing you...
Please come home.
And if you ever come back someday,
You’ll find me wasting my time away.
I'm missing you...
Please come home.
If you come back I’ll still be here...
Waiting on the pier.
Right here.
~
~ (This one I wrote for school. It's in a style called villanelle.)
Lying on the ground,
Looking at the stars.
Waiting for the world to go ‘round.
Listening to the howling of hounds,
Watching for Mars,
Waiting for the world to go ‘round.
Lying on the ground,
Listening to the strum of a thousand guitars.
Waiting for the world to go ‘round.
Not making any sound,
Listening to cheering for superstars.
Waiting for the world to go ‘round.
Lying on the ground,
Watching all the fuss at bars.
Waiting for the world to go ‘round.
Listening to words that confound,
Hearing the rush of all those cars.
Waiting for the world to go ‘round.
Waiting until meaning is found.

I look behind, see you cry,
Hate myself for leaving,
But if I’ve learned one thing in life,
You must do what you believe in.
They tell me to follow my heart,
What if I don’t know where it’s going?
I want to stay here with you,
But our lives must keep on growing.
But I need to leave, you need to stay,
Why is life so hard?
I can’t stand being without you,
But today we must part.
I look behind, see you cry,
Hate myself for leaving,
But if I’ve learned one thing in life,
You must do what you believe in.
~
~
I see you hanging out with your friends,
And I know you see me too.
But you just act like I’m not there,
Even when I talk to you.
I don’t know what I did to you,
I don’t know what I did wrong,
I can’t stand the way you look at me,
Maybe I’ll move to Hong-Kong.
But I can’t leave everything I know,
Just to get away from you,
Maybe I’ll get lucky and
The one who moves is you.
But then your friends would take over,
Unless you told them not to.
But I know better than to hope for that,
Too well I know you.
You can’t stand me,
I used to want to get to know you.
You’re part of the popular crowd,
And I don’t know what to do.
~
~ (I couldn't think of anything else to add to this one so it's just one stanza.)
I stared at him,
He stared at me,
And we reached out to hold hands in the darkness,
Where no one could see.
~
~ (This is a haiku kinda based off one of my stories.)
Cold, flat black eyes stare.
A menacing hiss comes forth
From the dark shadows.
~
~
I stare into the water,
Watching the ripples spread.
This is my perfect place,
I never want to go to bed.
I feel a pebble strike my face,
See you clench your fist.
You punch me, kick me, beat me up;
I’m too weak to resist.
Why do you hate me so?
I need someplace to go.
What did I do to you?
I can’t stand this anymore.
Why do you pick on me?
I just need to escape.
But I’ve got no place to run,
Since you took away my place.
~
~
And he’s standing right beside me,
And he’s whispering in my ear.
And the sound of his voice
Is the only thing I hear.
My heart is beating faster,
And I think I know why.
I’m falling for him,
And I cannot tell a lie.
He’s all I can hear,
He’s all I can see,
He’s my whole world,
He’s everything to me.
Time passes, things happen,
I watch him drift away.
He’s still my world but I’m not his,
And my heart I must obey.
~
~ (Also written for school, but not in a particular format.)
Shiny credit card.
I can get what I want.
I’m lofty,
Important,
Rich.
It’s who I am.
Watching my stocks drop,
Drop so far.
Refusing to believe I’m going bankrupt.
Sign goes up in front of the house.
“FOR SALE,” it says.
Clean the house,
Pack the boxes.
It’s moving day.
Dressed in rags,
Conserving every penny,
Living in the dirt.
I’m lowly,
A nobody,
Poor.
Who am I now?
~
~ (Also written for school. "Ten Ways of Looking at an Icicle.")
I
Water drips,
Sun reflects,
I watch.
II
Your sharp tip,
Melting away in the light,
Soon you’ll be gone.
III
Heat floods DATENUTS! air,
You and your kin,
Leaving this world.
Never to return.
IV
Watching you,
Hanging, melting, dripping,
Is inspiration.
V
Every drop,
Of frozen wonder,
Is art.
VI
O frozen beauty,
You are frozen in perfection
Till the heat comes.
To take you away.
VII
Ripples spread
Across your puddles
When you drop slowly.
Oh so slowly.
Piece by piece.
Drop by drop.
VIII
Waiting,
Always hoping,
That the sun
Will never come for you.
But it will.
IX
Frozen wonder,
Above the snow,
On the eaves,
Drip, drip, drip.
X
Drip, drip, drip
Forming puddles beneath.
Drip, drip, drip
Until you’re gone.
~
These three I wrote while I was on vacation and I was bored and I felt like being creative. They're kinda meant to be songs, even though they're not. So... yeah.
~
I'm sitting here thinking,
You're over there crying,
I feel so bad,
Can I just ask
For your forgiveness?
Get up, sit down, can't decide
Should I talk to you?
Would it make it worse
To just ask
For your forgiveness?
Remember that key we found when we were kids
You told me it was to friendship
We made a pact that day, you and I
So can I just ask
For your forgiveness?
~
~
Lost in the dark hall
Searching for something
I shout a loud call
But no one answers
Am I dreaming?
It's so dark
Please wake me now
I want to walk in the park
Can't remember
What to look for
Need to find it
I can't take no more
I hope I'm dreaming
I can't take no more
Losing hope, losing faith
I'll never find it
I... I... I'm...
Lost
~
~
Hooves on the ground
Pounding, beating
Like Pegasus, flying without wings
Flying over the plains
Hooves on the ground
Pounding, beating
Keeping time with my racing heart
Like magic
Hooves on the ground
Pounding, beating
Gunshot
No...
Blood on the ground
Spreading, flowing
Splayed legs
Lost magic

Wow that's a lot but they're really good! We had to do poems once and I forgot so I did in like 5 min. before class started and my teacher came over to me and told me it was good. I was like ok then... And that was kinda random...
