Hiding
The cold moonbeams play across her face, illuminating her sharp cheekbones.
Brisk wind rustles through the dried, frosted leaves, causing her hair to flow amongst them.
She doesn't breathe, hoping he will leave soon.
A snarl of her raven wing hair entangles itself in yet another branch.
The flash of her eyes could cut him in half;
if only looks could kill.
The skin on her knuckles is rubbed raw from swinging hurriedly through the branches.
She slinks backwards, away from his ever-searching eyes, until the leaves cover any hint of her being.
The moon slips behind an inky cloud, as if taking the hint.
Now he is getting desperate.
He can smell her, but not hear her, feel her, or see her.
She holds her breath on a razorblades' edge.
She mustn't let a sound escape, she thinks.
And now he is turning;
turning and walking away slowly, his head bowed in defeat.
Her heart suddenly inhabits her throat as the frozen leaves crunch under his now careless feet.
Then, suddenly, he is gone.
Disappeared like a wisp of smoke in a hurricane.
The silent ticking in her head reminds her to wait, as the tingling in her limbs urges her to leap, leave.
One.
Two.
Three.
Four.
Oh whatever, she mumbles, and leaps to the ground, her sleek hair surrounding her like a cloak.
Rising like a panther, she exits the clearing where her tree stands.
And now, the game begins again.

Re: Hiding
Okay, popping back on for a moment: Interesting, to say the least. The presented character's situation is intriguing, though it's difficult to say who is the real protagonist. Even so, a quite entertaining oneshot. ^_^

Re: Hiding
The lack of distinction with the characters was kinda sorta maybe on purpose, actually. Thank you! ;3

Fantastic imagery, Harmony! It's like I was right there, I could practically hear the sound of her breath in my head.
