My friend and I were confused about something once.

Who exactly are the 12 Greek gods? We tried counting and got like 14 or something. =/ Here's our list:

Zues
Poseidon
Hades
Apollo
Dionysus
Hermes
Ares
Hephaestus
Hestia
Demeter
Athena
Artemis
Hera
Aphrodite

*counts* Yep, 14. And I even think I'm missing one. What is this?? o.O

Hades and Hestia aren't part of the Twelve. Hestia was, but stepped down for Dionysus, and Hades has always been an outcast.

Then that leaves 7 guys and 5 girls on my list. Wasn't it supposed to be equal? o.O

It was, until Hestia stepped down, and upset the balance of power between male and female.

But I thought she stepped down to keep it equal.....

Yah Hades was never apart of the 12, people have always said he was but he isn't.... sadly XD

No, she stepped down so war wouldn't break out, because Dionysus wanted to be one of the Olympians (or something like that) but there could only be twelve so there was gonna be a huge fight but Hestia let Dionysus take her place. She explains it in TLO, I think.

Yep. The Big Three are the sons of Kronos, and the Olympians are the Twelve. Notice how (before TLO) only the Twelve, and not Hestia or Hades, have cabins at Camp Half-Blood.

That's why I'm confused! When Percy was explaining the cabin layout, didn't he say there were six on each side and one was for the girls and one was for the guys?
