- What is the character? A person? An animal? Something else?
- How old is the character? What is their birth date? What is their sign? What age do they seem to be?
- What do you notice first about this person? Do they have any distinguishing facial features?
- How do other characters see this person? Does this character realize they feel that way?
- What are the general facial features of this person?
- What do people like best about this person?
- Describe the physical appearance of the character. Skin color, texture, quality, and facial/bodily hair?
- Height? Weight? Tall or short? Husky, petite, lean, or muscular?
- Hair color, texture, style, health, and length? (Baldness?) Eye color and shape? Eyebrows?
- Nose size, shape, length, and width? Mouth length, width, size, shape, color? Teeth?
- Does the character have any disabilities or health issues? Distinguishing marks? Tattoos? Disfigurements? Birthmarks? Scars? Moles? Skin abnormalities? Wrinkles? Veins? Acne? Boils? Warts? Etc. Why? What were the causative circumstances?
- What would this character like to change about their appearance?
- What style of clothing does the person normally wear? Fancy or plain? Expensive or cheap? Elegant or simple? Describe the clothes. What kind of leggings or skirt? What kind of shirt or blouse? What kind of coat? What kind of headgear? What kind of footgear?
- What kind of jewelry or ornamentation does the character wear? Rings, earrings, necklaces, medallions, or piercings?
- What is this person’s favorite article(s) of clothing and jewelry, formal and informal?
- What are on your character’s feet at this precise moment?
- What kind of weapons does this character carry? Why? What do these weapons accomplish? How much training has your character had in the use of these weapons?
- What is this character’s expression when happy? Angry? Sad?
- What proportion do this characters’ legs have to their body?
- What do their hands, nails, and fingers look like?
- Any glasses or contacts?
- Usual makeup worn?
- How does this person walk? What is their posture when in motion?
- Any special gestures or movements?
- What is this character’s speaking style?
- Any unique qualities or characteristics? Quirks?
- What is the character’s full name? Nickname?

- What are this character’s favorite: Food? Drink? Music? Books? Sports/Recreational activities?
- What’s the way they would best like to spend a weekend?
- What would be a great gift for this person?
- What are this character’s dislikes or pet peeves?
- What is this character’s temperament?
- What is a good way to cheer up this person?
- What is a good way to annoy this person?
- What upsets this person?
- What embarrasses this person?
- What does this person really care about?
- Where does this character go when she is angry?
- Does this person have a secret(s)? Have they ever told anyone? What is their deepest, darkest secret?

- Has your character ever been in love? Had a broken heart?
- Do they fidget ever? How do they react to pressure, drama, grief, anger, boredom, nervousness, excitement, etc.?

- Describe the character in three words.

- If your character could change their name, what would they change it to?
- What is your character’s favorite band? Song? Type of music?

Is there a favorite child? How do they treat their children in private and public? Are they strict or laid-back? How do they discipline them?
- Does this person have grandchildren? Who are the parents? How much time does he/she spend with their grandchildren? How do they treat them in private and public? How old was this person when they were born? What relationships do the grandchildren have with other characters?
- What are this character’s ambitions and hobbies? Goals and aims for the future? Interests?
- What is this character’s place in the family?
- What are this character’s pets?
- Where does this character live? What does their home look like? What does their bedroom look like? Have they lived anywhere else in the past? Have they ever traveled? How do they feel about their homes? Which place that they’ve been at was their favorite?
- What is hanging on the walls of this person’s bedroom?
- Who does this character surround themself with? Who do they try to be closest with?
- What is in your character’s fridge right now? On her bedroom floor? On his nightstand? In her garbage can?
- It’s noon on Saturday. What is this character doing? Give details.
- If your character were doing intense spring cleaning, what would be easiest for her to throw out? What would be difficult for her to part with? Why?
- Your character is getting ready for a night out. Where is she going? What does she wear? Who will she be with?
- Any habits? Good habits? Bad habits? How do these habits affect them?
- Who are/were the character’s parents? What are they like?

- What is the best thing that has ever happened to your character?
- What is the worst thing that has ever happened to your character?
- Where was the character born? What were the circumstances of the birth? Did anything unusual happen? What is the character’s relationship with their parents/creators?

These are mostly done by interviewing your character.

Who do you love most in the world and why?
Do you smoke, drink or take drugs, where, with who, how often?
Do you save?
Do you spend too much?
Do you have any debts?
Do you have your own home? Rent? Do you still live with your parents?
What are your hobbies?
What was growing up like for you?
What sort of education did you have?
Are you religious? What religion, what do you believe, and do you follow those beliefs?
Are your family and friends important to you?
Do you have a job? (Go into detail.)
Were you an oldest/youngest child? What is your birth order and relationship with your siblings?
Do you have a close relationship with your parents? Describe these relationships from childhood to present.
What or who are you most embarrassed by?
What are your priorities?
Who has had the greatest influence on your life?
What would you change about yourself?
Do you like yourself? (Appearance, personality, achievements, etc.)
Where do you see yourself in five to ten years?
When you’re not feeling well, what is your favorite meal?
Who is your hero?
Who do you want to meet?
If you won the lottery, what would you do with the money?
Would you rather have the ability to fly or to become invisible? Why?
What’s the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you?
Which do you like better, the ocean or the mountains? Why?
If you had three wishes, what would they be?
What is your favorite sport to watch, and why?
If you could go to a store anywhere and buy anything you wanted, when price didn’t matter, where would you go and what would you buy?
What are your goals in life?
Find the character’s likes, dislikes, and favorite things - also try and find a reason why they like/dislike certain things. Don’t stop at just these questions - if you come up with more, add them in!

Find out your character’s talents/skills - what can and can’t they do? Any relevant information is acceptable. Can they do any of the following?

Do you play a musical instrument?
Write?
Draw?
Play sports?
Bake?
Shoot?
Dance?
What are your character’s characteristics and traits? How do they behave around other people or alone? What mood are they generally in? Give details, why are they this way, can they change? Are they any of the following? Talk about their weakness and strengths of character, their virtues, their flaws, and where these might stem from. Where did they get their morals or lack thereof? If you come up with other qualities, add them in: Are they -
