The Cullens Say Thanks
Maturity: Talking about being drunk, high-level kissing, drinking blood, eating hearts. (What do you expect from vampires?) It's a bit gory.
Fantasy: It's twilight, what do you expect? LOL
The Cullens Say Thanks
By Amanda Whitlock, Jasper Expert
Chapter One: Vampires Have Thanksgiving?
"Hello?" I walked into the Cullens living room. "Hey, Amanda." Rosalie smiled. "Jasper's helping Carlisle in the kitchen." My face must have shown my confusion, because she laughed. "We're getting ready for Thanksgiving." I looked at her strangely. "Vampires have Thanksgiving?" Rosalie laughed again and nodded. "It's very... different, though." She smiled. "How?" I asked. "You'll see."
"Hey baby." Jasper smiled. "Just a sec." He walked into the bathroom, and I could hear the water running. "There." Jasper walked out and hugged me gently. “What was that all about?" I asked. "I had to rinse my hands. I can't get you all dirty." He brushed my cheek with his finger. "Jasper, what is a vampire Thanksgiving like?" He answered the same as Rosalie. "You'll see." He brushed my lips once, then went back in to the kitchen. "Vampires are so secretive." I complained. I heard Carlisle laugh from the kitchen.
"Oh, hey Amanda!" Alice skipped in. "You ready for the Thanksgiving party?" Her eyes were pitch black, and I took a step back. "Of course! I love parties; you know that." Her eyes betrayed her excitement. "Yay! Bella never liked parties." She sulked. "But now I can have loads of fun!" I laughed. "I'm just a social butterfly." Alice laughed. "By the way, you may want to stay away form Jasper. None of us have fed because of this." I heard Jasper's chuckle from the kitchen. "She's right, though." He called. "But I already broke the rules." Alice rolled her eyes. "Predictable, Jazz. Just predictable."
Emmett bounded in the door. "Hey Amanda." He grinned, then went into the kitchen. "What is going on?" I muttered. "We can't tell you. Jasper's orders." She winked. Jasper's voice came from the kitchen. "Thanks a lot Alice." "Your welcome!" She called back, then skipped off.
"Jasper?" I walked into the kitchen, and Emmett pulled me back outside. "You're not allowed in." He ordered. I frowned. "Please? For an innocent human like me?" I smiled. "I'm not trying to torture you by not letting you see Jasper for a whole ten minutes Amanda." He laughed. "You seriously can't go in. There's a lot of blood..." I understood why Jasper had washed his hands now. He didn't want to eat me for Thanksgiving. "Okay then... tell him I want to see him." Emmett grinned and walked back inside. "Vampires are weird."
Renesmee waddled down the stairs. " 'Manda!" She cried, running into my arms. "Hey Renesmee." I smiled. She was so cute. Renesmee placed her hand to my cheek, showing me what had gone on in the kitchen. "Don't tell Jasper." She whispered, and then I watched.
All of them (besides Carlisle, of course) were wearing masks and holding their breath. Jasper was standing at the edge of things, a look of pure pain on his face.
"Oh!" I gasped. He was talking... about me. He was standing there, enduring his thirst, probably feeling like he was about to die, to give me Thanksgiving. Tears welled in my eyes as I imagined what he must be going through. "Jasper." I whispered, my throat thick.
He must have heard me crying, or say his name, because he was suddenly next to me. "What happened?" He asked, taking my face in his hands. Jasper's fingers wiped away my tears. "You. You're... You're in there, risking everything, enduring the most unimaginable pain... for me." I sobbed into his chest. "Oh, Amanda." He sighed. "I just want you to be happy." He pulled me closer. "Are you happy?" He asked, his face twisted in pain. "Y-yes." I whispered. "Then it's worth it." Jasper lifted my chin lightly with one finger. His cold lips reached mine, and he lifted me up, spinning me through the air. My feet landed back on solid ground, and he was still kissing me. His hands were on my waist, and mine were wrapped around his freezing cold neck. As he broke the kiss, I sighed. "This is the type of gift I expect on Christmas, not Thanksgiving." I laughed. "Just wait." He muttered, brushing my cheek. "Ew!" Renesmee complained from the chair. I burst into giggles.
Chapter Two: A Bit with Bella
I blushed, and Jasper stiffened. Dang it, I had to learn to control that when he was thirsty. I slowly backed up, knowing he would get control of himself. His eyes stared at my face as if it was a rare jewel. I backed up farther. "Help." I whispered. Edward bolted.
"Jasper." He stood between Jasper and I. "That's Amanda. If you want to make her happy, calm down. She's not mad at you, but you must calm down. Go back to the kitchen Jasper." He spoke slowly and clearly, sounding in charge. "Amanda! Get up here!" Bella hissed, and grabbed my hand. We slipped into her room.
"Jasper doesn't have much control these days." She murmured. "What with you being... well... la tua cantante, and still trying to survive on animal blood. Plus the fact that he's still worked up about my last birthday party," She shuddered slightly, "He's surrounded by people better than him at everything, even me, the newest, and he's surrounded by all the Thanksgiving cooking. He hasn't eaten in three weeks. It's killing him." I gasped as I realized what he was going through. "He's doing it though, but it takes a lot of control, which he doesn't have. I was only just turned, so he had about... what, a few years?... of no humans hanging around, and then... he found you." I sighed. It was all my fault. If I had never fallen in love with Jasper, the family could have been happy. But I was here.
"Oh, it's not your fault." She said brightly, but I didn't really believe him. "I always thought it was my fault too, but it's not. Technically, you could blame Maria." That cheered me up slightly. "Bella... what if it doesn't get better? What if he keeps trying to... you know, eat me?" She pondered that. "Well... he's bound to control it someday. Besides, he just barely handles Renesmee... but, then again, that's with us around." She sighed. "He's just... well... it doesn't come easy to him. He does it for you, though." I couldn't help but smile. "He loves you a lot, you know. Not even Edward could do that for me." She was referring to the Thanksgiving dinner thing. "He loves you more than anything. I think he's going to pull through... for you."
"Thanks." I smiled. "But... how do you know all this? Jasper doesn't spill very easily..."
That I knew for sure. He was shy, quiet, which always made me wonder why me, who was outgoing and very hyper, was in love with my opposite and why he loved me back. Maybe it was because everything I wasn't was represented in him. "I can just... feel it. I notice things." She smiled, and I couldn't help but smile back. "Thanks Bella."
Chapter Three: Not A Normal Dinner Table
"Amanda?" Jasper called my name from below. "Coming Jazz!" I called back, smiling at Bella. "Really. Thanks." She laughed. "Don't mention it. I know everyone says that, but, seriously, don't tell Jasper. He'd eat me, even though I'm not human." I smiled and walked downstairs.
"Amanda." Jasper's voice was adorably sweet, and his hands incased my cheeks. "I'm so sorry Amanda. Please. Forgive me." He looked so pitiful, his eyes nearly filled with tears from his pain. "Oh, Jasper." I threw my arms around him. "Of course, Jasper." His look of sadness turned into joy. "Thanks." He kissed my head, then went back to the kitchen. "Jasper, don't torture yourself for me!" I tried to tell him, but he turned and held a finger against my lips. "No, no. Shh. You'll love it." And he left.
"Edward!" Jasper called from the kitchen. "Coming!" Edward pranced down the stairs, grinning as he ran past. "Hey Amanda." He smiled, then disappeared. I sighed, and walked into the dining room. Esme was setting the table.
"Hello Esme." I drummed my fingers on the table as she set down knives. "You trust vampires' mood swings with knives?" She laughed. "Well, they won't hurt each other. You, on the other hand, they would. But I doubt Jasper would let Emmett throw a knife at you." I shuddered. "You actually expect them to eat with utensils?" I had never seen them hunting, but I had a feeling that it was not like a normal, family sit-down dinner. I heard Edward's laugh from the kitchen. "It's not!" He called. I giggled.
"Today, they will. Jasper makes them when you're around." I blushed slightly, and heard Jasper call something from the other room. "Thanks, Esme!" Esme laughed. "Sorry, Jazz, but she probably already figured that out." I smiled. "Jasper, you seriously thought I would think that you ate normally?" He chuckled.
After I had Esme set the table, we were prepared. Carlisle strode out of the kitchen, carring something that looked suspiciously like uncooked steak. "I guess this isn't going to be a normal Thanksgiving meal, is it?"
"Nope."
Carlisle, Emmett, Edward, and Jasper began bringing everything out. Some things looked, well, vampiric, such as the bottle of blood Carlisle carried. Jasper eyed it dreamily until Emmett slapped him. "Ouch." He rubbed his cheek. I smiled in spite of myself. "Nice hit Emmett."
All in all, there were about fifteen dishes, consisting of some normal Thanksgiving food, such as turkey (actually cooked), cranberry sauce, and corn, some vampiric items, like the bottle of blood (Lion blood, according to Carlisle), and something that looked strangly like a heart, and some kinda in the middle, like the steak. I had a feeling I would be the only one eating the normal items.
"Hey, Amanda." Jasper pulled me into the living room. "Listen... we usually do celebrate Thanksgiving, but no like this. We're going to be on our best behavior, but... be careful. Please, try not to get hurt." He brushed my lips. "I'll try." I whispered. "Good." Jasper kissed me once, quickly, and we walked back into the dining room.
Chapter Four: And The "Feast" Begins
Jasper pulled my chair back and smiled. Emmett winked at him, and he nodded quickly. "Of course." He mouthed quickly, then sat next to me.
"What was that all about?" I whispered to Emmett. "Oh, um... just a surpirse." He laughed, and I rolled my eyes.
Once everyone was settled, I bowed my head. "Dear Lord,
Thank you for blessing us with this food to norish our bodies. Please put this food to our bodies, and our bodies to Your service, Lord. We love you. Amen."
I watched with avid interest as the vampires actually started eating civilized. It was... interesting.
Jasper had finally gotten the bottle of blood he'd been eyeing for so long, but he made me pour it. "Even vampires can get drunk. On blood, but, all the same, drunk." He explained. I laughed as I tried to imagine a drunked vampire. He watched the red liquid fall into his glass, and I made a face. "Ew." I pretended to gag.
"A toast, " Jasper held up his glass, "To one of the bravest people in the world. She's having Thanksgiving with vampires!" They laughed, but I could tell from Carlisle's expressoin that things could get ugly really fast. That's probably why Jasper had insisted that Carlisle sit on the other side of me, just in case.
"Calm down, Jazz." He was stiffening up, trying to control himself. "Jasper, I'm fine. You can eat." I soothed him. "Please, Jasper, stop torturing yourself. I'm fine."
"I'm afraid once I start, I won't be able to stop." He whispered. "Jasper, I know you can. I can't stand to see you in this kind of pain. Please." Carlisle passed the suspcious substance that seemed to be partially alive. It looked like the heart from some type of animal. "Jasper, you're in pain. Please." I whispered. Each Cullen had a beating heart on their plate. "Please, Jasper. I trust you." I lied my hand on his. "Please."
Slowly, and I could see the look on his face as he lifted his glass to his lips. Hesitantly, the glass touched his lips. Emmett stiffened up, watching, just in case. The liquid touched his lips.
I watched as his eyes got slightly lighter as the red liquid disappeared. "Jasper?" I asked, my voice quavering. He looked at me, and his mouth turned up into a snarl.
"Amanda, stand back." Carlisle whispered, getting up form the table and standing in front of me. "Jasper." He said calmly. "Are you okay?" Jasper swallowed and looked at me, the hungry expression gone. "I... I think so." He muttered, still staring at me. I looked away. The pain that grazed his face was to much.
"I'll leave." I said, getting up form the table. "You need to have your Thanksgiving dinner, Jazz. I'll come back when you're done." I left my hand on his shoulder for a second, and tried to walk out of the room. I didn't get halfway across the room when Jasper's hand pulled me back to my seat. "I'm fine, Amanda. We all are. Trust me." His dark golden eyes glittered in the light from the chandilier, and I couldn't help but smile back. "Jasper, I don't want to hurt you." I whispered. "You're not. We're fine. It's just a family dinner." He laughed. I rolled my eyes and sat down. "Gosh. Are all vampires that influencial?" I asked him. "Nope. I can just make people do things." He winked, and I elbowed him, which hurt me more. "Using your powers for evil and not good... bad Jasper."
"No one ever said I was a good vampire." He kissed my cheek and pushed my plate towards me. "Eat. I won't eat you." Again, I rolled my eyes, but obeyed.
Chapter Five: Thanksgiving Dance
After the dinner, which was... interesting enough, Alice carted me upstairs. "What the heck, Alice? WHat are we doing?" I tried to worm out of her grip. "Oh, calm down, Amanda. It's the dance." I softened. "Dance? Good thing Carlisle's a docter." She laughed. "Come on."
Bella was also held captive in the closet, but, unlike her, I wanted to be here. I loved dances.
After about an hour of Alice, Rosalie and Esme fussing over my hair, they let me go see Jasper. I had been dressed in a light blue dress which Alice had loved on me. "It's looks pretty on you Amanda. It compliments your eyes." She had said. I did like the dress, though. It was a long and thin dress, just like me, and sparkled. I was wearing high heels and a little lipstick. I was ready.
Somehow, I managed to walk down the stiars without tripping over my own feet. I got to the bottom and saw Jasper waiting. He looked... beyond words.
"Wow." I whispered as he took my hand. "You look... dashing." He smiled. "You're beautiful, Amanda." One long finger traveled down my cheek as we walked outside. Tanya's family was waiting.
"Oh!" I exclaimed, surprised. I hadn't expected them to be here, but I probably should have. The Cullens and Tanya's family were cousins, after all, for all intents and purposes. Tanya laughed. "So, Jasper, is this Amanda?" She asked. I blushed. "Yes, it most certainly is. She's been here for quite a while." He wrapped his arm around my shoulders. "Wonderful! Amanda, I'm Tanya. One of Jasper's cousins." She smiled, and I grinned. "Amanda, but you already knew that." She laughed happily. "Of course! Jasper's told us so much about you..."
"Okay, Amanda, let's go." He carted me off, looking embarressed.
I danced in the center with Jasper, Emmett and Rosalie beside us, and Edward and Bella dancing somewhere near us. Carlisle and Esme were off with Carmen and Elazear, and Alice was dancing with Colin right next to me. Jasper took my hand and started leading me off to the gazebo in their yard.
'Did you have a good Thanksgiving, Amanda?" He asked, still dancing. "The best Thanksgiving ever, Jasper. I love you." He smiled. "I love you, Amanda." And Jasper slowly touched his lips to mine, ending the day.

Yay! x3 I like this. Haha, it's so dramatic, though . . . in a goofy kinda way, like, they're sacrificing themselves just for a simple holiday. I don't have a problem with it or anything, cus it's what's giving the story it's plot, I just find it kinda unusual. xD
I can't wait to read more! :3
