Chapter 1 - Shopping at the Infinity

“Just pull over up here Ronald.” I heard Daniella command to her driver. Having friends with exclusive benefits was so amazing. I mean, we had the money for a personal driver, but I preferred to spend all of my parent’s money on clothes. Not just normal clothes from like Old Navy, but high end clothing. I think I would have to kill myself if I wore anything other than my super chic styles.

Speaking of style, I looked down at my fashionable outfit. For my top, I had on a Mark Jacobs black and white striped cashmere tank. One thing I loved was jeans, and I was bearing a pair of Burberry jeans that the legs looked like they’d been washed in bleach. My simple black flats added to the simplicity of my outfit. But accessories in my opinion were a must. My get-up was fixed up with a black leather Prada tote, a Tiffany bangle, and large black Gucci sunglasses. As for make-up, I had on a few coats of mascara, dark of course, pink Hard Candy eye shadow and liner, and a thin layer of pink lip-gloss. I was one who loved simple apparel, with loads of amazing extras. That way I never wore the same thing twice and never have to worry about somebody wearing the same clothing as me. I liked to be unique.

Daniella on the other hand was about having a quirky style that was still gorgeous. Her clothes were a bit bohemian styled sometimes. She had on a simple white T-shirt and loads of chunky necklaces in different shades of blue. Along with that, she had on a pair of True Religion jean short shorts that had beads sewn into the pockets. To top it off she was wearing a pair of brand new Jimmy Choo wedges in a navy color, and complimented her fair skin tone and blue green eyes with dark brown mascara and blue eye shadow, with indigo eye liner.

Ronald pulled over to the front of the mall. Or The Infinity as some call it. “So Keelee is going to be here any minute now right?” I whined, even though I knew Keelee was probably already here. She insisted on “riding her bike” for like “exercise” or something like that. I mean, if she’s so poor that her mom can’t give her a ride because they have to conserve gas because of “lack of gas money” then that was fine with me, but it didn’t need to cut into my shopping time with her and Daniella.

Daniella rolled her eyes at me and simply replied, “She’s coming…. Jeez Holden.” I knew that the only reason she acted this way was because her driver hadn’t pulled away from the curb yet, and could still hear us. On the inside, Daniella was thinking the same thoughts as me.

I heard loud breathing from behind me and turned to see Keelee parking her bike and locking it to a tree. “Keelee, why do you insist of riding that when you could easily just catch a ride with Daniella like I do?” I laughed. Keelee lived six miles from the mall, and was a really big athlete, so she liked the exercise. Or at least that’s what she said.

“You know why Holden. In my family you have to work hard to get the things you want. Including twenty dollars!” she squealed. I guess I didn’t realize how much that money impacted her, because if I had known, I would have given her more money every now and then.

Daniella finally came into the conversation when she saw her driver leaving the parking lot. “Are we going to go shopping or not?” she gasped.

I just laughed and linked arms with her and Keelee, walking into the mall. “Okay so we need to get spray-tanned, and some new clothes for high school.” I quickly stated. Whenever we would go to the mall I had a list of things we needed to do, and I would make sure we did them. I was a very organized person.

Today we had an emergency mall day because it was the final week of summer, and next year we were going into high school. I had totally spaced and not remembered about what day it was, so when Keelee called me and was freaking out about her soon to be high school grades. She was almost in tears, and all I could think about was:

A. 9th Grade Domination
B. High School Guys
C. Power over all the 9th graders from a different Middle School, who needed to know who I was and how you treat me and my clique

I think my favorite one to think about on list would be the second one. High school guys. I mean, I guess that included some of my best guy friends from middle school. But I was referring to older guys. Sophomores, juniors, and maybe, just maybe, seniors. Although I wasn’t thrilled about dating guys four years older than me. It would be weird because the age difference would affect what we could talk about. I mean I had no clue what eighteen year olds thought about. But the thought gave me shivers up my spine. And dating that would be… yikes.

Keelee suddenly let go of my arm. “Okay, I can only afford like one nice thing you guys so please don’t over do it with all of your stuff so that I feel poor.” She begged. Most of the time I would purchase most of Keelee’s clothes because of her lack of money.

“Keelee… I’m buying you hot new clothes even if you don’t want them, because you’re not wearing sweat pants and a tank top to school in high school.” I just simply replied, knowing Keelee would give in.

“You should not be paying for my closet.” She argued.

“I shouldn’t be doing a lot of things…” I snapped, and Keelee shut her mouth.

Daniella let go of my arm too as we walked into a store called BE UNIQUE. She ran over to a large rack of silky tops that were gorgeous, and just her style. Each one of them had a little difference then all of the others. That’s why the store was called BE UNIQUE. She picked out an emerald green top and showed it to me. “I need to get this…” she squealed before running off to another rack of clothes.

“Okay get anything you want Keelee…” I smiled and walked away from her, heading toward a bunch of clothes my style. I picked out a purple shirt dress and a pair of black fish-net leggings, along with a black fedora that had a purple strip around it. “Cute…” I mumbled and went to the next rack. I grabbed a one shoulder tank top with cheetah striped in purple and blue on it, with a black trim, and a few pairs of multicolored skinny jeans. That was enough from one store.

I went over to Keelee. “What do you have?” I asked her. She showed a few things she had in her hands. “Let’s go change…” I smiled and walked to the changing room.

Chapter 2 - High School

“Omigawd… I think I’m gonna throw up!” Keelee winced as we jumped out of Daniella’s car onto our new school grounds.

“Not on me! I just bought this outfit!” Daniella shrieked and walked away a few steps.

I just cackled at their actions. “Guys! Err, girls! Calm down, and keep your cool. We want everyone to notice us and our outfits. Not us and our puke…!” I joked adjusting my fishnets. I was wearing my outfit from BE UNIQUE from a week before. The other girls giggled into their palms before I silenced them. “Okay come on now. Let’s go to our lockers and check out the hotties here…” I smiled. A guy on a skateboard rode by. I smiled and waved at him. He was so distracted that he crashed into a parked car. ‘Perfect,’ I thought. “Always in control.” I nodded and left Keelee and Daniella alone to freak out by themselves.

As I walked through the doors of the main hallway, I felt the weight of at least a dozen different peoples gaze on me. I could also hear a few whistles from guys, which was to be expected.

A tilted my fedora towards my face as to add mystery and opened my locker. It was empty, like my love life so far. Maybe at this school I could actually get a boyfriend instead of just letting a million guys flirt with me.

I felt a hand on my back and turned around to see a tall boy with the deepest blue eyes I had ever seen. “Hey… are you new?” the boy asked me. I was about to tell him I was a freshman, but he didn’t need to know that yet, so I just nodded.

“I thought so, because your way to pretty to not know me…” he flirted. “What’s your name anyway?”

My mind went blank for a second. But then I came back to life and answered, “Holden… Holden Terraline.”

“Well nice to meet you Holden Holden Terraline…” he joked, making fun of my stutter.

I just smirked at him, but playfully. He seemed to catch on.

“And I’m Seth by the way…” he added after an odd patch of silence.

“Cool name… it’s…” I stopped talking and put my hand on his chin before continuing. “Cute.” I then turned back around to put some stuff in my basically dead locker. I put a few stickers and pictures up of me, Keelee, and Daniella, and some of my puppy, and a couple of me modeling some outfits I really liked. But I could still feel Seth standing there.

I saw his arm reach for a photo of me that I was about to pin up. “Can I have this, Baby Girl?” he asked, gazing at me.

I just nodded and handed it to him. Even if I didn’t want to give it to him, I still would have. It was like I was in a trance when he looked at me. He was so cute with his blonde hair and bright blue eyes, and I usually liked darker haired guys. But oh well.

The bell rang and made me jump. Seth laughed and put his hands on my shoulders, after I shut my locker. “We gotta go to class Baby Girl, but I’ll see you soon…” he told me. His face was so close to mine I could feel him breathe, and I could feel me myself stop breathing. He then walked away.

And I caught my breath.

Chapter 3 - I was called a Lair

“And then he took one of my pictures of me modeling!” I finished, telling my two besties about Seth. The thought of a sophomore liking me was pretty cool. I had never had a guy flirt with me like that. I mean, a million guys have tried, but they were horrible at it. Seth made me feel like a million bucks. And I had a million bucks, so I knew what it felt like.

Daniella seemed really jealous, but Keelee seemed sad. “Keelee, you okay?”

“You lied.” She simply said.

“What do you mean?”

“You lied to Seth about your age…”

“I so did not! I just didn’t tell him my age.”

“Still… you lied.” She argued.

I saw this conversation going nowhere, but I knew that Keelee just wanted to be right. Sometimes she could be stubborn when it involved me “doing the right thing” and if we kept talking she would make me tell Seth I was a freshman. And that was not an option, because his whole meaning of “Baby Girl” would change. He would be calling me younger than him. Not his girl.

Glancing at Daniella, she still seemed jealous of me. “I bet he’s a liar and that he is just messing around with you. I think he is going to be a jerk, and this whole thing will blow up in your make-up covered face. There is no way an older guy would like you, and not me!” she said, trying to comfort herself, and bring me down at the same time. I could tell neither one was working.

This was just great. Keelee thought I was a liar, and Daniella didn’t want to believe a single word I said. “Okay guys… I have to go home…” I muttered under my breath, standing up. I mean, Daniella house was never the same anymore. She was so jealous of me, and everything I had. Even though she had more than I did. The way it was, was that I had the most money but I used it on smart things, and Keelee was poor, but had a pretty nice wardrobe because I bought everything in it. Daniella had plenty of nice things, but it was almost too much, and I had way better clothes than she did. Plus, I got all the guys to flirt with me, and she had to flirt with the guys herself.

“Whatever Holden…” Daniella scoffed, and Keelee just looked like she was in pain.

I walked out of the door of her giant house, heading down the street.
