“Mom, I’m going to the park!” I said.

“Who’s gonna be there?” she asked, as usual.

“Oh, just some friends,” I told her. I don’t know why, but I felt uncomfortable telling her I was gonna be there with Derek.

“I’ll drive you. I have to go to your brother’s baseball game anyway.”

“It’s okay, I can walk.”

She picked up her keys and walked to the door. “Come on.” I sighed and followed her to the car.

“Where do you want me to drop you off?” she asked as we approached the park.

“Um, by the entrance to the old park is fine.” We had three parks in our town: one was kinda old. That was the one me and my friends grew up with. There was a new one by my brother’s school, and there was a really small baby park we played at sometimes. I assumed Derek would be by the new park, so I would just walk there from here.

“I don’t see any of your friends. Do you want me to wait?” my mom said.

“No, I’ll be okay.”

She was just about to let me out when Derek came around the corner down the block.

“Isn’t that that Derek kid?”

“Uh, I don’t know, just let me get out here.”

“No, I’ll go drop you off over there, it’s not much farther.”

I tried to send him a text telling him to run, but I was too late. My mom pulled up next to him and he looked at the van, confused. I said goodbye to my mom and climbed out.

“Your mom drove you?” he asked me as soon as she left.

“Yes, even though I told her not to.”

“Whatever, let’s just go.”

He started walking to the bike path, and I followed him.

Yeah....sorry, it's just....it's based on my friends and stuff and things have changed since I started it and....I just don't really wanna write more....
