Growing Down

I don't understand why girls wear designer clothes and try to be someone their not. Saying words that should be censored; wearing make-up? Who said that was cool? Whoever said it was wrong. We're just kids and why don't we live that way? We don't need to impress. We don't need to be like a model, and we shouldn't even care.

Take a step out of the line for once. Hollister, Abercrombie, we don't need that! We can wear whatever we want. Be unique.

Why do we gossip? It just hurts a person and makes them feel like garbage. You just make a person feel like they're horrible, and even just one insulting word can ruin their life. You could be the cause or so many of their problems and you're too oblivious and ignorant to care.

In this world of 2009, I've seen Kindergarteners talking about which phone they're getting to replace their 1 month old, outdated one. Well, maybe I'd take that phone! Can you believe how much we have?! Back, years ago, we didn't have light other than candles. Now we have everything. Heating, air conditioning, computers, television, Wii, Playstation, Xbox, PSP, Nintendo DS...

Does anyone remember... maybe in the 90's, when we all went outside from morning to night? We would go on our bikes from the time the school bus brought us to our house after school to when the moon came out and our parents begged us to come inside. We ran around, and played, and laughed. That was when it was a disapointment to go inside, not get grounded from your Gamecube for a week. We wanted to swing on the swings. Boys and girls were just alike, and we were young. Nothing mattered. We didn't have cliques yet.
That was before.

Now every girl wants a boy, and every boy thinks being a jerk is cool. Why do you need a boyfriend, anyway? I have my crushes, but I can think about other things, and if they don't like me back, I move on. 5 years in the future, we won't be kids anymore and we'll wish we had those years back, when you can just be free instead of worrying about guys and being skinny and perfect. In a little bit, you'll wish that you would have your spent your time better, but you can't go back and rewind life.

So let's not grow up! For today, and tomorrow, and the next day, let's grow down. Take off the mask, put down the lipstick, and don't listen to what jerks whisper to eachother. I'm going to grow down. I'm living in the moment, and if you choose to become someone 5 years older than you instead of loving the few years you have left to be you, go ahead. You think it makes you more mature, but it doesn't. It's just being immature, and you're trying to be someone that you'reo not. Don't aim to be older and cooler. Aim to be you, and make yourself better- right now.

I'm staying who I am.

I LOVE this. And I agree with it 100%. Sure sometimes I wear Aeropostale but I don't care about Abercrombie and all of those other places. Some people think that you have to wear Abercrombie to be cool. Who cares. I love just wearing a t shirt and jeans every day.
