Words.

Simple, meaningless words

Travel across the empty space

Straight to our hurting hearts.



Words.

Hurtful, stabbing words

Cut us like daggers as we fight,

Neither daring to surrender.



Words.

Pointed, vicious words.

Some we never expected to hear

Especially from each other.



Words.

Long and short words

All designed to hurt each other

And yelled in loud voices.



Words.

Never ending words

Screamed as we stand and wait

For the hate to end but not stopping ours.



Word.

One simple word

That changes everything.

But that’s all it really takes
