Dar'Khan began running faster as well. He was used to this. He'd always chased those he wished to murder. Either that, or he'd send that dwarf after them.

Vlad sensed the knife coming, and flopped down on the ground, feeling Alice roll off of his back. Atleast they where safe, for alittle while.

Annie's voice came through the speakers. "Are we still on for later?" she asked casually. "We're meeting at Cassie's, right?"
"Yeah," I agreed, although we'd had no plans. "What time was it again?"
"Two," she replied. "See you there."
"Yeah. Bye." I hung up.

Shadow warily picked her way through the building. She didn't like this . . . it smelled . . . of emptiness.

Yeah, that's right, she was by herself. That was unusual, when Shadow went out in public. She much preferred to be with people. So, she made up her mind to wander off and find somebody to hang out with.

Hmm, maybe I could do stuff with the Animorphs, she decided with a delighted grin. So she began to make her way out of the store and in that direction, towards the area where they lived. Probably should get a taxi . . . meh, walking won't kill me for a little bit. Or running. Glancing around to ensure she wasn't being watched, Shadow entered the forest across from the road, then as soon as she couldn't see the buildings she began to run.

[M] "Dad, I'm going to Jake's!" I yelled, running down the stairs. I heard his grunt of acknowledgment as I passed the living room and left the house.

You should . . . go to Jake's! Yeah! Shadow told herself as she ran. If anything's going on, the others would meet there anyway. Realizing she was just about to totally drop in on their secret lives once again, she had to let out a laugh. At least they hadn't minded before.

Pretty soon, she had to slow, having reached the end of the trees. But she was nearly there - she could see Jake's house in the distance. Folding her arms neatly behind her back, Shadow grinned and continued to approach.

When she was just across the street from his place, Shadow stopped and pressed her lips together. Hmm . . . She stood there for a moment, trying to make up her mind about whether she should really just go up and knock, when suddenly she saw Marco pedaling down the street.
