I stared at the dragon, my eyes widening visibly. I glanced at Fang next to me, who was nearly getting blown away. "We have no choice!" I yelled over the wind, and Fang nodded. "Uhm... anyone here know how to ride a dragon...?" Since Fang had wings, I assumed he might know something. "Don't sit on the wings." He advised. "Great tip." I muttered sarcastically. Well, since this was our only hope, we might as well try now. I attempted to avoid the wings, as Fang had told me, and keep my hand in his at the same time. Somehow, we managed to get on the dragon before we both got thrown into the sea.

-----Kayla let out a sigh of relief once they were safely on. I'll start flying as soon as we get away from the wind! she told them, turning in the opposite direction of the water. But before she could take a single step, something lunged out of the water and clamped teeth around her tail. She yelped in pain and alarm, twisting around to try to free herself and see what was attacking. But she forgot all about defending herself when she saw the huge black monster.
-----It actually looked like what she'd expect to find as the Loch Ness Monster, except a lot more creepy. Bigger, more muscular, seaweed draped around much of it, and . . . well, just rather evil-looking.

I gasped, and I heard Fang freeze next to me. The huge sea-monster growled, a low, loud growl. I shivered from the wind, but I had a feeling it wasn't just the wind that was making me cold. Don't ask me how, but Fang somehow managed to hang on through the monsterous wind, keep his eyes on the sea monster, and take off his jacket and wrap it around my shoulders. But it wasn't exactly any use. I didn't have time to get it on before the giant monster swiped down, adn then I was in his clutches. I felt my bracelet slide off my wrist, and I basically screamed my heart out. You would do the same if you were being stolen off a dragon from a giant sea monster.
I caught her bracelet immediatly, watching. I knew that I had no chance against the monster, and Amanda knew that I knew that. But I was going to try anyway.
I unfurled my powerful, 15 foot wings, a cold glare in my eyes. I flew up to Amanda, just barely brushing her hand, which was our sign for 'I'm going to save you, no matter what.' The monster swiped, and I backpedaled, but he managed to hit my cheek, which was now dripping with blood. "Fang!" Amanda yelled helplessly. "I'll find you! I promise!" And then the sea monster disappeared, the wind stopped and I was still in the air, watching the place where Amanda had gone down.

[And now the plot is: find Amanda and save her life. xD]

-----No! Kayla shouted, lunging towards the monster, but it was too late. It - along with the girl - was already gone, and she merely splashed into the shallow water, unable to see any deeper from the surface.
-----She looked with anguish at the boy, hoping he wasn't mad at her for not doing something. We can save her! I know we can! We just - wait, how did you get wings?! Her eyes widened with surprise when she saw the huge wings on his back . . . and that he was also flying with them. Now, with dragons like herself, that was perfectly normal . . . but with a human?

"Long story." I murmured, holding her bracelet. It was the one I had given her, that said her name in silver writing along the chain. I slid it into my pocket, vowing right then, right there, that I would live to see it back on her wrist.
She also still had my jacket, which was probably good for her. She understood that I was coming... right? I was going to save her, even if I died in the attempt.
I turned towards the dragon, flying low to the land and droppping feet first onto the sand. "Long story." I muttered, still staring out at the sea.
She would be okay. I knew she would.

-----Kayla watched him with concerned eyes. Was he . . . okay? Of course he hadn't been very talktative to begin with. She didn't know him at all, so it wasn't like she'd be able to tell what he was feeling. But if she could . . . she'd bet anything that he was trying to hide how worried he was.
-----We'll get her back, she promised, turning towards the water. I'm going to go down and see if I can see where that thing took your girlfriend. She began lowering herself in the water, but suddenly flinched away with a hiss when her injured tail dipped into the water. Ow! Geez!

I knew we would get her back. If we didn't, then I was going to die trying. I unfurled my wings again, flying low over the water. Gosh, if Angel was here, she could just go find her. Or... I could.
Thank you to anyone who decided to put gills on a mutant freak. They actually came in handy, for once. As I flew not an inch away from the water, I folded my weings in and fell through the water quickly, searching. The water was filthy, polluted... but clear enough that I could see vauge outlines. I saw the outline of the monster, and hoped he hadn't killed Amanda from either the water pressure of drowning. And then I saw the little air bubble around her. The sea monster was taking her somewhere, somewhere with air. As a hostage.
Not while I was alive, he wasn't.
But I couldn't do anything right now, and I knew that. I swam up to the surface of the water, unfurling my wings the second I was completly out and hovering in the air, trying to pinpoint exactly where it was.
No luck.

-----Kayla forced herself to ignore the stinging of her tail, first wading and then swimming out to where Fang was. Anything? she asked, ducking her head under herself to search through the filthy water. She repressed a shudder. Some people were really good at polluting the world.
-----Now she saw the monster taking Amanda, with the air bubble, just as Fang had. Kayla stiffened. Why would it be keeping her alive? Surely it wasn't . . . sentient? Or was it?

I shook my head, coasting up to the beach and landing in the soft sand. I saw a high rock formation a while up, and, without warning, my wings unfurled and I saw sitting on top of the cliff. I wrapped my arms around my knees the way Amanda used to, resting my chin on them and looking out into the surf.
We would find her. I knew we would.
And I alos knew that it would be difficult.

-----Kayla followed him up, taking only a few wingbeats before she could land carefully behind him on the cliff. We can't give up on this. We have to try. Do you know anyone that can help? This wasn't good, the look he was getting. When people started moping, everything tended to go downhill. She would know.
-----Even though it had nothing to do with the situation, she suddenly realized how lucky he was to have wings even as a human.

-----Kayla nodded and spread her wings out, launching herself into the air. She automatically moved back to hopefully not disrupt the boy's flight with her own, since she didn't know how strong his own wings were, and waited for him to take the lead.

I took a running start, jumping off the cliff face and expanding my wings. I caught a current quickly, soaring higher and carefully aiming towards where I knew the cave was.
When we got there, the entire flock was pretty much confused about why Amanda wasn't here. "Uhm..."
