"Not a bit." Replied Sally kindly, waiting until she fell asleep to hold her hand above Amanda's forehead. After a few moments, nothing happened. She glanced over Jasper's shoulder and at Leach. "Samuel? Could you see if you can try to hold back on your power for a bit?" She requested politely.

Leach nodded, holding his hand to his temple and concentrating.

After a few moments of this, a little blue light began to leak out of Sally's hand and into Amanda's forehead.

Chloe paused for a moment, her mind poking through his mental barrier, and catching a little flicker of Jacob's thoughts.
She blinked rapidly, shaking her head, and sneezing abruptly to mask her current shock.

We were gonna get to that. Spoke up Quil with a nod, there are vampires. Lots of them-- not the Cullens. We managed to get to talk to one of them a few weeks ago, and they claim to be good---

But they say that the vampire after them isn't. Interceded Embry.

After a few moments of this odd little blue-light fading into Amanda's forehead, Sally pulled her hand back, putting her black glove over her hand. "It should take affect in a few minutes' time." She replied. She looked up, "Samuel, I want you, Gwen, and Akane to go and find Toby and Hayden. Could you do that for me?"

"Of course." Leach replied with a nod.

A few minutes later, Amanda's eyes opened. "Amanda?" I whispered quietly. "How do you feel?" She stood up unsteadily, and my hands clasped her waist. "B-better." Her voice seemed alright. "Not perfect, but better." She was still swaying though. She leaned into me slightly for support, and I wrapped my arms around her gently.

Leach glanced over at the two, smiling. "I must be out, then." He finally said, folding his hands behind his back. He pulled out a black beanie hat, and slid it over his bald head. "I promise I'll be back." He nodded to them, turning to leave.

"Bye." I whispered. My voice hurt. "Bye... Samuel." Jasper smiled and let go of my waist, taking my hand instead. "Can we go find Amaya?" I whispered again. "Sure." He brushed my cheek and we walked downstairs.

Leach chuckled quietly, and disappeared. Akane and Gwen followed, and the three disappeared into the forest to find the Ives twins.

Amaya was downstairs, muttering to herself in random Japanese curses. She was obviously upset; that much could be told from the way that she ran her fingers through her short hair in an annoyed and stressed way.

"Amaya?" My voice crackled. Jasper sighed. "Must you always be sick?" He muttered to himself. "I heard that." I swallowed. "Just come on." He pushed me slightly, but I was so weak from the illness and treatment that it sent me tumbling down the stairs.
I landed, battered and bruised, on the bottom of the stairs.
"Amanda!" Jasper's voice was full on guilt and concern as he ran down the stairs. "What hurts?" He helped my sit up, and I winced. My arm was broken.

"Aw, how great!" Amaya said sarcastically, and she cursed afterward in her Japanese language. Immediately she appeared beside her, inspecting her arm with an ice cold hand. "Your arm is broken." She announced, eyebrows raised.

Jasper gently helped me up, and he was the one who kept me there. "Lie down." He commanded, and I obeyed. "I think you broke your leg as well." He sighed. "Oh, Amanda. Why must I always hurt you?" He brushed my forehead and ran. "Jasper!" I called, my throat burning. But he didn't come back.

"By leaving, my friend, you will only be hurting her even more." Amaya called after him, poking her head up the stairs and then walking back over to Amanda. She touched her leg and arm, "Where does it hurt the most?" She asked.

"Here." I pointed to the middle of my arm, slightly below my elbow. "Where'd he go?" I lowered my voice.
Why did I always harm her? No matter what I did, I always seemed to hurt her. I broke her, snapped her... she was going to be dead soon. All I did was hurt her.

-----Jacob could no longer hide his growing sense of discomfort. Chloe had found something out, he knew it. It took all of his concentration to even keep from focusing too much on that . . . he just listened intently to the others, letting his packmates' words echo consistently in his head. That kept most of his unwanted thoughts shut up for now, though there was no taking back what Chloe had heard.
-----Okay, so, what were they saying? Right - vampires. Lots of vampires, good vampires, being chased by a bad vampire. Huh, Jacob said. The good vampires wouldn't be too much of a problem on their own - if they really were all good - but even that one bad vampire would be a problem. Well, why don't they just all attack him or something? Aren't there enough of them?

-----"Well . . . you'll realize that when you need to, then," Steph said awkwardly. This wasn't exactly one of the topics she was very educated in. "But I don't think Jasper's forcing anything. I mean, seriously - he doesn't have that much self-control; he almost killed Bella once, and she wasn't even his la tua cantante. How would he be able to resist it otherwise?"
-----Alice took a deep breath before answering him with a small nod. "Yeah . . . I'll live." If nothing else. "Don't worry about me." But that was the last thing she really wanted; even just caring enough to worry was better than nothing.

"But she was bleeding.... why am I such a worry-wart?" I sighed. "I liked Jasper before this mess."
"I can't just let you go." I sighed. "Please. Stay. Amanda's devestated that she caused this, and I can't stand to see her this way. Please."

(Ooooh! Alice should get all mad that Jasper wants her back for my sake! xD)

Bad vampire has friends. Replied one of the wolves, probably Quil or Embry.

Yeah, lots of them. Added another.

He's already captured two of them, so they say. And three of them have disappeared, too. He turned that Jodi girl--

--the one that disappeared a few months ago--

--into a vampire.

Amaya wrapped both of her hands around the broken bone, "This may sting; but it'll fix the bone. Sally can cure sicknesses, and I can fix bones." She explained, and gave her arm a pinch here and there. Finally, she wrapped not of her hands around her arm again and twisted the skin, like if she were doing an Indian sunburn. She let go, and wiggled her fingers, "There you go!" She exclaimed brightly.

"I think it might still be broken." I muttered. I mloved it slightly and winced. "Yeah...." Jasper walked back in, holding something. "Let me put that in a cast." Carlisle.

"Ay, Leach..." Amaya smacked her forehead with her own hand. "Might still be in range." Suddenly, there was a slight rattling sound heard from the upper floor. Her head snapped up automatically, and she stood up, muttering something under her breath.

Carlisle handled my arm with delicate care, not letting me feel any pain. Jasper's hand lingered on my shoulder. "Are you okay?" He asked, his voice thick. "Jasper, please don't blame yourself. It's not your fault I'm a klutz." I kissed him lightly on the mouth since Carlisle had finished with my arm.

Amaya stood up carefully, holding an index finger to her lips. There was a few more rattles and struggling, and then everything fell silent. "Hush now.." She whispered, slipping over to the foot of the stairs cautiously. "Someone is up there."

Jasper immediatly pulled me closer, his arm wrapping around my waist. My head lied on his shoulder, and he rotated slightly, hiding me from view. I rolled my eyes, but smiled.

Amaya seemed to slither up the stairs [and no, not on her belly!] and she cautiously poked her head out of the door. "Sally?" She called, "Jodi?" Suddenly, she was grabbed by her head and yanked right from the stairs. She let out a bloodcurdling scream, and then there was silence.
