The smoke-uglies

The world of uglies is set in the cold, cruel future. After the rusties( us! only worse with the environment) almost destroy the world, humanity needs some order.It's the [perfect solution, at the age of 16, a self-image hating ugly(11 to 16) gets an operation that turns you supermodel gorgeous. You move to new pretty town, away from the repulsive ugly faces( they are normal to us) and lead a life of luxury, fun, and ease. But what if a few uglies found out about what they really do to you during the operation. Something that makes you unable to act on your own, always hazy-minded, never breaking free and going along with whatever the wardens tell you to? Those uglies have to go somewhere, that's where the smoke comes in...




The Smoke: The Smoke is a place, a cross between a town and a camp, in the wilderness. Full of uglies that ran away, faced the wild, and made it to freedom, the people here( mostly) are free from speacils, superhumans working for the government. Every once in a while, one will sneak his/her way in though.... Some pretties too, that have been cured of course. Run by maddie and Az, the founders,their son, David, and a council of older uglies, the smoke is peaceful place with everyone sharing it's work.

Maturity: Some kissing, not to many details, some dating, older couples may ALREADY BE married:but no marriages,


Fantasy: None, this is in the future, but no fantasy

CRASH BRACELETS- used to stop crashes from hoverboards-see above
MINDERS- electronic care-takers
INTERFACE RING- Ring that "must" be worn at all times, used to connect you to the city interface
Bungee Jackets-used for emergencies to jump off tall things(usually in case of a fire) and bounce safely without hurting yourself
DEHYDRATED FOOD-basically what it sounds like
PLEASURE GARDEN-Garden maintained my minders, for strolling and taking uglies of fake "nature studies"

Personality: He's a gentlemen through and through. Jake's sweet, caring, and loyal to everyone. He's favored more from his friendship and rarely ever "dates" because everyone thinks his friendship isn't worth risking. He opens doors for girls and has manners, just because to him it's the right thing to do.
History: Grew up in a foster home, seperated from his sister, Valentine, at a young age.
Family: Parents got rid of him because of financial issues.

Personatlity: Competetive and agressive girl who loves to have fun and party. Macey is a total dare-devil and isn't afriad to try new things. Macey always has something to say and usually is the one who brakes silences. It's different for Macey, it gives her a headache is it's too quiet, not loud. Macey is in love with music and anything involving movement. On the other side, Macey is highly intelligent but stubborn and hard-headed.

( Guys, I forgot to specify something, if you are an ugly, you have to be 11-16,at least from Tally's city and you can't grow up in the smoke, not yet. BTW, adults only have kids once every decade or so)

((Hey! I saw your post on Mind Rain - our subjects are pretty different, even though it's about the same book - ours takes place after the Mind Rain, while yours takes place before. I think that both of our RPs will be fine. ))

( No, I didn't make him. He is a character from the book, I needed him to get the story going. I keep forgetting that no one has read it! My friends got me to read it.(Well, mostly). Your character can be a special trainee, or a ranger from diego( A city) if you like. Just once, because I forgot to explain that.)

I looked up straining my eyes. The leather jacket I was wearing was keeping me warm, but the uglies I was leading were shivering like crazy. I rolled my eyes-a habit I learned from the boss. The other group was coming in, just three people. I walked over to the one with black hair and smiled." Hey, I' David'

A boy my age with messy brown hair smiled crookedly at me. "Hey, I'm David." He introduced himself. "Um, Macey. Nice to meet you," I greeted him.

( Bubbleeads( the pretties that have had the operation,(( almost all of them have)) are empty headed, vapid, lazy, snobby, and prissy, you are doing good)

" Um, Macy, nice to meet you." She said. I smiled, then asked," So what brought you here to the smoke. You aren't one of mine." I looked back at the uglies in my group, I had a young one, only 13, and smiled. Looking back I said," I was born here, You'll probably meet my parents, Maddy and Az." I stopped looking into her eyes now. All pretties had those eyes, but we only had two in the smoke. Those came from diego, so they weren't AS pretty." Ummm... You're...ah...pretty." i stopped talking, I hadn't cared for pretties all my life. Besides, if she was from tally's city, she'd have dozens of uglys already saying that.

( The rust ruins are the remains of an old city( like 2005 for us). I'll edit his, he asked what city she was from, she can say she doesn't know, she's a pretty, but cured, and the smoke is a camp. An illegal camp for free-thinkers.)

He smiled. "So what brought you here to the smoke. You aren't one of mine." He told me as I wrinkled my nose. "Dont't really know," I replied. "I was born here, You'll probably meet my parents, Maddy and Az." He stopped and looked at me. I shrugged. "Probebly," I said simply, clanking my black boots against the floor. " Ummm... You're...ah...pretty." He blurted out. "Thanks," I replied, not really taking it to a surprise. I knew I was pretty and I had a bunch of people tell me that. I flipped my hair from over my shoulder to behind it. I glanced around the location with my bright baby blue eyes.

"Don't really know," She said, then I told her about why I was here."Thanks," she said after I had just told her she was pretty. I blinked a moment longer then I meant too." Let's go get your dorm assignment. Then after you get settled in, we can get your work assignment. You brought a sleeping bag from the city right? And some dehydrated food. That stuffs worth a fortune here, we don't exactly have holes in the wall." I laughed, picturing what my parents had told me. "Not carrying a light pack are you?" I said noticing her backpack. After a moment I said," I can help carry the stuff."

"Mmmhmm," she was saying. It annoyed me how she could shrug everything off on someone else. All effects her pretty face had on me had worn off."Plus, I brought an inflatable mattress," she shrugged. This was not going to be easy, uglies never had to do work, but they did do school and planning for tricks. New Pretties never thought about anyone but themselves.I closed my eyes for a few seconds, then opened them." Everyone shares their work, no one will do it for you." I took out my own bag, put about half of the stuff from hers in it, and zipped it up. Handing her own backpack to her I said," Follow me, the boss will give you your dorm assignment. As for working, you'll either be tending the animals, cooking, cleaning, or steel collecting."

"I know, I'm not just a pretty face, hon." she smirked. I gritted my teeth."I can do all of that. Will the people who are cooking going to make dinner or something?" I stifled back laugh of disbelief.,Yes, HUNI wanted to say.That's what cooking means.. But I didn't, that just meant she didn't know how to do any of those things. " Whatever" I said as we got near the dorm she was supposed to be in. I reached inside the door and grabbed a necklace of a flexible stick twisted into a five.." Dorms always have their numbers on necklaces. It's not fashion, but you'll live" I said throwing it to her." For your work assignment. You'll just be steel collecting today, the boss is busy."


( BTW, Pretties are weak and are used to having everything they wanted coming out of a hole in the wall.They NEVER have to do work,and are used to getting everything they want. Your girl is only half cured, so she still is weak and a little whiny.)
