Summertime.

I want summertime to come. x)


SUMMERTIME
Warm sunshine beating against their backs
Late night s’mores and late time snacks.
Hours spent staying up until the day begins
Having fun, whether somebody loses or wins.

Spending the days without caring ‘bout time.
Not caring ‘bout school, or earning a dime.
Daydreaming by the river or dancing by the lake.
Don’t care what you do; there’s nothing at stake.

You can get a tattoo; or dye your hair bright green.
You can play out in the sun all day; just wear sunscreen.
You might get stuck mowing your lawn or taking out the weeds.
Or you might have to water the plants or plant the seeds.

But anyway, it’s no big deal.
It’s Summertime, happiness is all you feel.

You can swim all day once you finish some chores.
You can tan all day and eat apples till they’re cores.
The sun is just standing there, open arms and grin spread wide.
Waiting for you to come outside…
