Choosing Genders

Due to some... rather unfitting names, I've thought it over and I wanted to know your opinion on this - how should the choosing of pets' genders go on? Just vote and comment, please.

The genders should be random but we should see them before naming.

I think if we choose the gender it'd take all the fun out of the game! xD

I say genders should stay luck of the draw, but we can see what it is before naming it, like on DragonAdopters. When your egg hatches, it said something like, "Your egg hatched into a male Felidragon." Then something about if you name it it'll be your best friend. It doesn't do that anymore since we can pick now.

If we do end up implementing a pick-the-gender, I suggest we have it Male-Female-Random, if someone doesn't want to outright pick theirs. If I name my pets at all, it's typically rather gender-neutral (Ori [though I played her out as a girl before the genders, so Ari was nice enough to change that accordingly], Shading, Highlights) so other than adopting tons and tons of lots of pets to get a breeding pair, which I've stopped doing so I can get a few trades, this actually doesn't affect me at all. Ignore these ramblings.

I think the majority is leaning towards that, Kiri. I'll wait another few days and then discuss the final decision with Jade, Amanda, and Keri, and then I'll make the changes. If we do end up implementing pick-the-gender, I'm sure that your idea would be something I'd use.

I personally like it the way it is now . . . luck of the draw is fun! xD So I agree with Amanda in that aspect. I also love Kiri's idea, though, to have options for male, female, and random . . . at least then I could still have a bit of fun with myself.

I honestly will be all right with whatever you choose, though.
