Saddle's Blog for 5/3/10 ~ "Only 37 days left!! Are YOU ready for high school?"
My math teacher has kept a countdown in his room all year of how many days left of school. He has "Only *space here* days left!! Are YOU ready for high school?" written on a piece of paper on a bulliten (sp?) board. Then he thumbtacks a piece of paper with the days left in hte empty space. I didn't worry about it for a while because it was like in the 100's or 90's. Now it's down to 37.
"Only 37 days left!! Are YOU ready for high school?"
No.
Not at all.
I don't know where I'm going to high school. It's either school 1 (public school) or school 2 (catholic school). I feel my parents want me to go to school 2, but my only friend is going to school 1. At school 2, I can learn piano, but I'd have to wear a uniform which I hate. School 1 is where most of the kids from my town go, but if I go there and hate it, I can't switch schools. If I go to school 2, I can always switch to school 1 if I hate it.
And now there's a curveball thrown it. (ew, did my dad type that? o.O wow, I gotta stop listening to him talk)
My friend who's in high school now is telling me about another school, school 3. It's one where you have to apply and stuff, but he says he applied over the summer and got in. He also says it's good for math and science -- which happen to be the subjects I'm good at and like -- and he says he likes it there. That's kinda tempting me to look into it
So I'm totally lost now. -_-
I don't know if I should tell my parents about the school 3 option cuz that might drive them crazy since I already have the school 1/school 2 issue.
But I feel like considering school 3 now.
*sigh*

Ugh I know how you feel. Highschool is the thing I'm least looking forward to. Everyone I know but four of my friends are going to a different highschool... And I think you should tell your parents about school 3.

I know, it's so scary. Five and a half weeks to graduation... :O
I really don't know what you should pick. It's up to you, really. I'd suggest making a list of pros and cons of each school and prioritizing each list, then decide what things are most important to you.
I'm definitely going to the public school, and of course I live literally a block out of the big district so I only know one or two people who are going to my school next year and none of them well. I know a couple older kids too, but also, not well. Oh well, none of my friends live close enough to go to any school I went to anyway. I'm just hoping there's some people I actually relate to there...

Re: Saddle's Blog for 5/3/10 ~ "Only 37 days left!! Are YOU ready for high school?"
I'm trying to find school 3's website, but I'm not sure if I found it or not. My friend said he applied and got accepted over the summer, but if I found the right site, it specifies that late applications will not be accepted. And the deadline was like December or something.
I also find it weird that I think it's the high school Juice is going to. And it's a school I never really looked into. It's probably too late and I'll just end up going to school 1 or 2.....

Ratty is right - you should create a pro/con list. If you really want to go to school number 2, you might want to try then and then switch if you don't like it. I think you should tell your parents about 3, though. Tell them why you'd like to go there, and they might understand.
I've hope you decide soon enough.

Re: Saddle's Blog for 5/3/10 ~ "Only 37 days left!! Are YOU ready for high school?"
I'm not sure if I wanna go to school 2. It's a Catholic school and there's uniforms and stuff and religion class and I don't think I'd like that. =/
I hope my friend goes on facebook again soon. I need to talk to him more about school 3. Facebook's the only contact I have with him. xP I don't see him much, and if he has a cell phone I don't know his number. xP He lives around the corner, though, so I guess if I had to I could just walk over there and ask if he's home. But his parents are divorced so he's not there all the time. xP

Religion classes aren't too bad.

I just don't like religion stuff. All the time in CCD and church and stuff they're always like, "Don't live for yourself, live for God" and stuff and I don't really feel like I believe it all....=/

Yeah, my school's not like Orthodox or anything so it's not really like that... Our Jewish Studies classes are mostly just learning about the holidays and traditions and history and whatnot.

I don't know what the religion classes would be like. xP I shadowed there twice, and the first time they watched a movie and the second time they had a test review worksheet and the teacher did nothing xP

-shrug- I go to a Catholic school right now, and it's really not that bad. It really is less strict than the public schools in our area, and religion classes aren't all that bad. I feel the same way you do; I don't believe it all, but you know, sometimes you just have to deal with it. xD

There's still the uniforms thing. xP I don't like uniforms. I do not like uniforms. I. Do. Not. Like. Uniforms. xP And people from my grade that I hate are going there. xP

I don't understand why you wouldn't be able to switch from school one to school two... I have friends in my school (public school) who switch all the time...
I kind of get your problem though. When I was in eighth grade, all of my friends were applying to these really expensive private high schools... (I went to a private school) and they all applied, and got in, but I never wanted to go there. To be honest, none of those schools offer near what a public school does. My school has a better music program than all of those other schools put together. And I love it there. It really doesn't matter what school you go to, as long as you're doing what you love and want to do.

I have the easiest thing - our school is from pre-K to 12.
And when I go back to America, I'm going to the awesomest public school. Ever. Even has the IB program.
I say school 3 or school 1. I would never go to a catholic school, 'cause I personally feel that it's indoctrination. *crickets chirp* I'm an atheist, just remember that. xD It't totally fine if you wanna go there.
Try and get into school 3, and if not, go to school 1.

The only problem with that, Ari, is that kids don't really learn how to adapt to new environments. My school is K-8 (they're starting a preschool next year too) and when I go to high school it'll be a totally different experience, because we don't have lockers or block schedules or anything like that. And if it's pre-K through 12, when the kids who've been there basically their whole lives move on to college, they might have trouble adapting.

A lot of kids here stay for about 3 years before moving to another country. xD We're an international school.
I've gone to two different schools. :3 One in America, one here. And I've moved country twice. So yeah, I know how to adjust just fine, thank you.

I have a scholarship to school 2 and if I go to school 1 first, I might not be able to switch to school 2 because I'd have turned down the scholarship and the acceptance and stuff. Plus, my parents would have to pay full price.

I could try, but I don't wanna get in trouble for applying late. =/
