Character renaming Empty Character renaming

So, I'm writing this story called Runner. Basically it's about some people who have supernatural powers. One of the main characters is currently named Jack, but I'm thinking I want to rename him, I'm just not sure what to change it to.

Jack is around the age range of twenty or twenty-one, with chocolate brown hair and eyes, petite features, and a tall, slender build. He has two younger siblings, Mackenzie and Benny. He can run at speeds of maybe a hundred or a hundred and fifty miles per hour and he has a sort of prophetic thing going on that I'm not really sure about the details of yet. He always knows when someone is lying, his instincts are right 99.9% of the time, and he gets sort of vague ideas of what's going to happen every once in a while. He has a path laid out for him in his head and if it doesn't follow it he's... I dunno how to describe it. Punished? He basically gets flashes of headaches if he doesn't follow. So, yeah. Ideas, anyone? Or should I keep him as Jack?

Edit: Okay, now I'm thinking Reese... It means 'running' in Welsh, so that fits. And Mackenzie is a Scottish name, so it's kind of a common place of origin...

I think Jack sounds okay for him. A lot of the time a character develops to become their name, so it's probably better to keep his name... Like, he wouldn't really be the /same/ character if his name was Alex or Lysander or Sam or whatever, if you get what I mean. xD

Yeah, I guess... I just kind of have a mixed picture of the name Jack in my head that I wasn't really thinking of when I named him... Like, there's this kid named Jack from camp that's kinda annoying, and then there's Jack Harkness from Torchwood and I really don't want him to turn out like him either, and... I dunno. xD Thanks for the input.

Yeah, I know what you mean (believe me, I'm incredibly unoriginal in naming characters and they end up becoming names of people I know. xD)
If it bothers you too much, try and use a variation of it, 'cause then he's still sorta himself. Or at least use a name which starts with the same letter.

Well, it's hard to find common-ish names that you've never met anyone named that, you know? xD

The only problem with that is the other MC is named Jordan, and that's another reason I wanted to change it, cuz I don't really like how their names start with the same letter... Dunno if you saw my edit, but I'm thinking Reese... I dunno.

Yeah, that always annoys me... Babynames.com is really helpful, though. xD

Hmm... Reese isn't exactly a name I personally like, but if you think it's a good name for him, then go ahead. Smile

That's actually where I found the name Reese. xD But when I first started writing this I was in Israel and couldn't get online. Razz

Just an interesting fact: According to babynames.com, Jack means "The diminutive form of Jackson." Jackson means "The son of Jack." rolleyes
