Masquerading Trust

We were running.
Only running from the emotions
that would swallow us,
drown us, bury us
beneath waves of hope and wonder and
leave us to contemplate the rickety
bones of faith
that brought us there.
This was our way of saying
"I'm sorry", and healing
the almostscarred
realizations of masquerading trust.
She was a glitch and we
were a mistake
that never should be reconciled.
A twitch of an eyelid
doesn't mean
love will follow, and
it didn't.
It never would.
