Three Months Ago

I found my heartbeat
under the rain and decided
to hide it in trunks
of antique lace and regurgitated hopes, so
maybemaybe nobody
would find me.
I discovered my oxygen amongst the
raindrops and tucked it between
his cheek and gums so the only way I'd
breathe was to be with him.
But nothing worked
three months ago
and the fluid in my lungs became one
with the rain and yesterday
wasn't
much
better.
