The Secrets of Ivygrove Manor
~The Secrets of Ivy Manor~
“Melanie Grace Coexen!” Cold shivers went up my spine as my tutor-Rebecca- irritably called out my whole name. I looked up from my game of crocket, only to see her strutting across the yard, waving a sturdy finger in my direction. Rebecca wasn’t one of those nasty old ladies some of my friends had for tutors, but you never want to get her mad. And when I say never, I mean never. Another thing Rebecca wasn’t was a person who didn’t care about how they looked. She was always wearing a long, pale blue dress with little pink flowers dotted about. Slid onto her tiny feet were black flats and a black bow tied her strawberry red hair into a loose bun. Her round face was perfectly curved, and her peach colored skin contrasted well with her bright green eyes.
I leaned against my crocket stick, resting my chin on my hands, and preparing for the worst. I was well aware that I had skipped my history class. But I mean, who wouldn’t? All we learn is about how the Egyptians buried the dead, and if we’re lucky, maybe a bit of our ancestry in England.
Oh, please excuse my absence of proper introduction. My name is Melanie. Melanie Coexen, as if you haven’t figured that out already. I am the age of fourteen, and live in the state of Virginia. My father is a very wealthy man, so that would explain the big mansion we live in. He is the founder of ‘Coexen printing’, a small company that copies and prints letters and maps for people. We live on Ivy Grove hill. A giant hill covered in blueberry patches that over look the town below-Ivywood.
