The creature drifted slowly through the grass. Its pricked ears twitched, then flattened against its human-haired head. The creature’s dark blue eyes were fixed straight ahead, piercing and almost knowing in nature. Its nostrils were flared, and its mouth was slightly open to drink in the scent of the grassy field. It could smell the tempting scent of cattle, and it knew that its hunger would very quickly be satisfied.
The creature crept closer and closer to the unknowing herd, letting them graze quietly. It picked out its prey, a straying calf. It circled around its prey, the wind not blowing, so it would not be scented. Suddenly, the creature let out a startling yowl and leaped at the calf, bringing it down. The rest of the heard ran away, mooing in fear, while the creature dug its long, pearly white fangs into the calf’s neck. With one final bleat, it fell silent. Grinning, the creature pulled back, its mouth covered in blood. The creature’s family would eat well tonight. Picking up the body in it’s teeth, it bounded away with basically no effort at all, over the barbed wire fence and into the forest.
It was a pitch black night. Jynx knew this, even though she couldn’t see the sky in her dream. Tail twitching, she continued on into the large forest, her triangular ears twitching. She carried herself on all fours, even though it was possible for her to stand upright in her human form. Sniffing, she found under the scent of the dusty, dead leaves the scent of something feathery and delicious. Bird! She thought, grinning softly to herself.
Jynx dropped into a hunter’s crouch, her body low, her eyes large as she shifted into her cat form. Sneaking through undergrowth and hiding under some bushes, she noticed a large pheasant pecking around in the leaf litter. She smiled and wriggled her haunches. She stifled a growl in her hungry belly, and suddenly pushed forward on her powerful hind legs.
Startled, the bird tried to fly away, but Jynx caught it with one paw, and in a flurry of feathers, flung it over to a tree. The bird tried to fly away again, but Jynx was already on top of it.
