Do you mean which species was made first or what was the first one adopted? I'm not sure about the species but the first adopted was this one:

That's just the levelup link but it's all I can find.

I'm not really sure, but I know the lamb, jubjub bird, cow, and treasure bird were the ones released first, at least. :3 Oh, and the bluu and the twiggles.

It's Shadow's special adopt! She's got the only one. I know Shad has got a special one, and Jade and Ari, and I have one, and I'm not sure who else, but I do think there's at least one other special custom pet out there.

Well, my special didn't even come into my possession until a few months ago. As in, after TA had been around for a little while. :O So he's not really the first, I'm afraid.

Out of the ones I told you, Leah, well . . . they actually all came out around the same time. XD So I can't really answer that question decently.

Oh, I was sorta meaning my link, saying I've been dying to get one. xD But nevermind I have my little question asnwered. xD
