How to Make Text Fades Empty How to Make Text Fades

Alrighty, so, um, hope this works!

First you gotta go on Word, choose your font, choose your size, and type in whatever you want. I'll do the kind that goes straight from one color to another first. So let's start with... This.

Love For Nothing
To start, I'll highlight the entire text and make it the color I want the letter L to be. Let's make it... Dark blue.

Love For Nothing
From there, highlight everything but the capital L. Then I'll make it a color that's a little bit closer to what I want the ending part of my text to end up looking like. Let's make that ending color something easy, a bright green-blue, simply because my brain isn't fully awake yet. So that means a color in the right direction would probably be something like a brighter blue—but not significantly. More like this.

Love For Nothing
Now I'll repeat what I just did, except I'll highlight everything but the L and O of Love. Let's make that blue brighter, shall we?

Love For Nothing
Keep on repeating that second step, and eventually you should get something like this:

Love For Nothing
Hopefully that's a good enough explanation for that kind of blend.

There's also the kind of blend that Mia has on her Teloren x Lazuri template (which Mo had created) that has one color on one end, black in the middle, and another color on the other end. That fade can be found at this link. I'll use one of my own favorite RP couples, though the boy's name is censored so no spoilers are provided to those that keep fighting for my character. o.o

Jinx x Crys
Crys's RP color has always been a specific shade of blue while Jinx's RP color has always been a reddish color. It's pretty hard to make a fade from one to the other with those colors and only nine letters. That means we have to do the color-black-color thing. You can either do this just like we did the first kind of fading, or you can do it the way I'm about to do this.

Jinx is the only one that's going to be crimson fading to black, so highlight only his name (not the X) in red.

Jinx x Crys
After that, start doing what happened in Step Two from the first kind of blend, making that red color fade to black—like this:

Jinx x Crys
Now do the same thing to Crys as you did to Jinx, except give her what her color is instead of red.

Jinx x Crys
Again, repeat what you did to Leon. This could be done two ways. Either you could go from the black and gradually get those colors to lighten up, or you could go backwards and have the colors gradually darken. I typically do the latter, which would require highlighting everything but the Y and then selecting a darker color. If you do the former, you highlight the same portion as you would if you were doing the latter, except instead you choose a color that's along that blue spectrum but is just a little lighter than black, if that makes sense. Whichever way you go, in the end you should get this:

Jinx x Crys
Don't fire and ice mesh so well?

Once more I'll remind you, if you're doing this off of Word, make sure to copy and paste it into Firefox or IE, as they will accept the color coding while Opera, Safari and Chrome will not. Just know that chances are you will need to go and edit other formatting codes on the down side, like font and size.

Now, let's say you don't have Word. First off, I recommend you get it. Second, I suggest you do the same thing in the two above, except you should try to do it in either Paint or Pixlr. This just means your fade will end up text in a picture instead of just text. Not a big problem, right?

I hope I helped everybody who wants to do fades!
