Jami chuckled, "Nope, but I can tell. Good job--how'd you do it? Lemme guess a fall? Is it your first one? You should've gotten some hot chick to sign it." He grinned widely.

Warren shook his head and sighed. "Nope, nothing at all," he said.

Heather's eyes darted away again. "Why would I lie to you?" she said weakly, looking horribly guilty.

"Fell outta that big tree over there" Then to the last thing, he turned it over to show in black, about 14 different girl's signatures. Alan was grinning widly.

"Yes there is" She said, kissing him "Tell me please?"

"I don't know..." Noah sighed, letting her go.

Jami began to laugh. His grin was so big that you might think is face might just split. "Good job!" he cried. He stood, picking Alan up and tossing him into the air and catching him with a laugh.

Warren snorts, "Nothing's wrong, sweetheart," he promises softly, kissing her cheek.

Heather nodded, stable for a moment. Then she started crying.

Alan laughed his eyes wide as he was thrown up and down

"Jami! Be careful! He doesn't need anything else broken!" Hope called before sighing "Okay"

Noah frowned, hugging her and stroaking her hair "Shhh...its okay.."

Alice looked down at her now curiously wide-eyed baby, and back at Derrick. "You want to carry her?" She offered, seeing that her baby was now turning her attention to the new stranger that was talking with her mother.

"Sure" Derrick siad, reaching out her arms and tacking her softly "Hey there Avery.." He said quietly, smiling up at Alice.

Avery let out a tiny cooing sound, stretching one of her hands up, just managing to touch his nose. She giggled, grinning a bright and curious grin, her large brown eyes sparkling as she did so.

Derrick smiled down, rocking her slightly in his arms. Supporting her with one arm, he tickled under her chin. He would make a good dad, that is, if he found someone he wanted to marry.

Avery giggled, her hand curling around his index finger. Her hand was pretty tiny, but she was just a baby, she would grow sooner on in her life. She made another one of her cooing sounds, that showed she was curious. She tilted her head a bit.

Alice chuckled, "She turned seven months old yesterday." She explained.

Jami grinned, "I'm being careful," he said, rolling his eyes and setting the boy on his shoulders. "What'dya wanna do, buddeh?"

Heather sobbed into his shirt. "I'm sorry," she whimpered, "I really am, Noah. I didn't think it was possible...I...I'm so sorry...and I'm scared....I didn't wanna tell anyone, I was just gonna, I dunno give 'em away or something..." She cried harder, her shoulders shaking, her pale features horribly scared at what he would say, totally forgetting that she hadn't actually said anything in words.

Jami spun around to face Hope and Warren, "Well? Can we?" he said. Despite the fact that he was extremely devious, he knew better than to mess with Warren.

Warren shrugged and looked at Hope.

~!~

Heather continued to cry. She did manage to say this clearly; "The babies."

"Yes" Hope said "But not to much sugary stuff on top.." She said. She hoped even Jami wouldn't give Alan to much sugar, because that was a curse on everyone until he crashed.

"YAY!" Alan laughed, his tiny arms wrapped around Jami's forehead.

"Babies? You-You are pregnant?" he asked, his face a mixture of shock and great joy.

"Twins," she choked out before going back to crying again. She pressed her face into his chest and cried even harder. She wasn't sure why she was crying, but she had a horrible feeling about all of this; a feeling of pure terror.

Warren nodded in agreement.

Jami grinned. "Shweet! Okay, common Alie-an, I know THE BEST ice cream place in town." He ran towards the parking lot, keeping the boy on his shoulders.

"You do realize that he's probably gonna load Alan to the bursting point with sugar, right?"

"Heather...thats...thats...great!" he said, bending slightly down so he was on her level, for he was taller then her "Why are you crying though?" he asked softly, wiping the tears off her face.

Alan laughed, holding on the best he could.

"Yeah, I know. And I'll smack him upside the head when they come back" Hope said with a small smile.

Jami arrived at his white pick up truck. He opened the passenger door and set the little boy gently down, "Sorry if it's a little bit messy," he said, "I took Faith to Mcy D's the other day and forgot to clean out the trash." The floor was littered with some garbage, not much, but also a lot of cigarette packs (empty ones).

Warren chuckled, "Yeah, I know," he said softly, in an almost teasing tone.

Heather shrugged, "I dunno," she mumbled, her crying calming a little. She thought a few seconds, sniffling and wiping her cheeks, "I guess 'cause I'm scared."

"Ohhh...Uncle Jami, its not healthy to smoke" He said, looking up at him with large brown eyes. Ontop of being very flirtatious and misbehaving and sportsy, he was also smart.

Hope smiled, kissing him now that Alan was gone. If you looked very closely, you could just see a faint bumb on the back of her head where the scar was from seven years ago.

Heather exhaled deeply, shakily, her eyes fluttering shut. She snuggled closer to him and kept her eyes shut. "You promise?" she whispered.

Jami just shrugged and hopped into the driver's seat, lighting one and sticking it in the corner of his mouth. "So?" he said, turning on the vehicle.

Warren smiled slightly in return, a little surprised when she kissed him, but he relaxed and his eyes fluttered closed.

Noah smiled sadly "I promise Heather. We are not gona give these babies up though" He said lightly

"Do you know what they do to your lungs? They turn black. And your teeth turn yellow and you risk having cancer and a heart attack" He said, a frown on his tiny features as he looked at his uncle. He was being very serious about this.
(Heart attack I didn't know about until learning about my dad's heart problems - they were caused by his smoking (He quit after I was born though)

Hope wrapped her arms lightly around his neck and closed her eyes, glad to just be able to spend some time with her husband.

Warren hugged her close as he continued to kiss her, relaxing more. It was now rare that they had moments like this, so he enjoyed it while it lasted.

Jami shrugged, "And? None 'f that junk's gonna happen to me, little guy, chill," he laughed and pulled out of the parking lot, heading towards town.

{My grandpa on my father's side--my real one, not my Poppy (step grandpa)--died of something like that.}

Heather's lips twitched into a slight smile for a moment, and she nodded a little, "I didn't want to," she admitted quietly, "but I didn't think you'd want them, 'cause, well, they'll probably be, I dunno, weird or something, so I didn't wanna tell you and..." A fresh wave of tears rolled over her cheeks despite the fact that she continued to smile a little.

"And did you know most deaths are caused by things caused by smoking?" He asked, looking up wide eyed at his uncle as he swung his legs side to side. He took his hiegth from his mother, so his knees wern't even totally off the seat.

Hope smiled in her head, pulling away for a breath

"Heather, I'll love these kids no matter what" He said, kissing her again "To think..I'm gona be a father' He said, smiling widley.
