Risk

She makes me laugh so hard I cry
The time we spend together seems to fly
My best friend; I'm there for her like she is for me
She does stupid things, I forgive her instantly

But those things she does, they cut me deep
Sometimes I can't breathe; I can't get to sleep
She makes me cry more than I've ever cried before
I may not show it, but no one has hurt me more

But that's the risk I have to take
Friendship isn't perfect; it can break
And once it does, it will never be the same
In the back of my mind, she'll always hold the blame

She's talking lies straight to my face
She tries to hide it with a little embrace
I always forgive, but I never forget
Because her actions repeat like an overplayed cassette

I don't know why I let her push me around
I let her manipulate me like a toy that's wound
I don't know why I continue to believe her
When her lies should be obvious to even a stranger

But she's always been my closest friend
It's a risk I'm willing to take to the end
You may think I'm foolish, and you're probably right
But ending this isn't worth the fight

Yeah, she hardly listens to a word I say
Yeah, she'll swear at me playfully, shove me away
But that's her loss, one day she'll come around
But by then I'll be gone and will never be found
