As Night Falls on a Dark Day....

As Night Falls on a Dark Day....

The sky is blanketed with
A thick layer of cotton.
Not the pretty, fluffy white kind of cotton,
But an ugly, unwashed, gray type instead.

A thick fog is settled
About the ground.
Rustles in the bushes,
Leaveless bushes, their branches
Devoid of everything but thorns.

The very air seems thick,
The girl's nose wrinkles.
She feels like she can't breathe,
Like she's being watched.

The sun dips below the horizon,
Even though she can't see it.
Darkness creeps up from no where,
Slowing consuming everything in its path.

She shudders.
It scares her--
She is of tender heart.
Something snaps besides her.

A scream tears from her mouth,
And she leaps into the air.
Her legs pound furiously
On the rocks below her.

They're sent flying
Into the air behind her.
Wind whips at her hair,
Whistling in her ears.

She runs,
All the way up the steep hill
That seems like a mountain
Because of her fear.

But finally,
Oh finally!
She makes it!
She's okay!

She stumbles into
The house and
Slumps against the
Doorframe.

Turning to glance over her shoulder,
She smiles.
"You didn't get me this time,
Darkness," She cries,
"And you never will!"

[This poem was inspired by the crappy weather I experienced today. xD]

Brrrrr... creepy! Heh, but awesome I have crappy weather here too *pouts* I want sunshine back!

Hehehe, it looks really creepy out, indeed. And amen to that, sista! xD I wish it was sunny here, but like, I doubt it. Winters are really harsh and keep coming early, so. xP

*whimpers* I know, right?! The leaves were off the trees WEEKS ago! And--and, get this. It actually SNOWED a little at the beginning of October. o.O I agree with you on the last part, as well. xD

Heh, I don't have snow...YET! But yeah, I miss the leaves. At least I have some evergreens around here, but still Heh, it's like Arianna's poem, Colors xD

I live in the south. It like, never snows here and gets sunny alot, but its so wierd, cause its still freezing!

It's dark here.
