I read Maximum Ride, and I love that series. 
They're by my mom's favorite author.

That sounds like an awesome book. 
I've read the Eragon and Percy Jackson books, and I really like them. I started one of the Maximum Ride books, but them I put it down because I got a copy of The Hunger Games.

Eragon - PWN. Pwnpwnpwn. I think you'll like it!
Inkbooks - A little monotonous at first . . . if you're not hooked by the time you're halfway through the first one, keep trying. xD If you finish that and still don't like it, though, don't bother with the others.
Left Behind - Kiddy! Very kiddy! I like them, though. x3 So awesome. Read 'em all! I haven't, but I tried to. The last two books are amazing. :3

I've read the MR series, the Inkheart series, the Percy Jackson series, and the 1st 2 books of the Eragon series. They're all pretty good, though I read Eragon and Eldest a long time ago, before Brizyngr or whatever came out, so IDK about that one...

Maximu Ride was awesome, as you know.
Inheritance Cycle (Eragon) is pretty good. I used to be obessed; read Eragon 4 times, Eldest 3 times, and Brisingr twice.
The Ink Trilogy is very good. I highly suggest it. And Percy Jackson is good too, I was obessed with that for a time also; read the whole series twice, and I'm reading the first one again.
