-----'Yes, I noticed.' Muttering to herself, the girl raced out towards the two. "Hey!" she called, her face rather serious-looking.

-----Tukari raced protectively out after Marissa, his fur beginning to bristle. If he dares hurt her . . . He really didn't like the look of these two, and wasn't going to trust them one single bit.

-----"You two are bonded?" Panting, Marissa nodded at the phoenix.

Sadron remained quiet and expressionless.

Narenma made her way in front of Sadron. "Please excuse him. He doesn't speak much. But yes, we are bonded."

-----Marissa smiled, her eyes lighting up. Characteristically, she wasn’t much one for feeling joy, but there was just a smidgen of that inside her. “I knew there had to be others like us,” she murmured. For the longest time she’d felt like a freak and an outcast in their village; of course she’d known there were other bonded animals and people out there, but she hadn’t heard of any others nearby. Come to think of it, she didn’t think she’d ever seen the human in this pair at all.

-----Tukari eyed Marissa, a bit happier when he felt her happiness. He grinned, his tongue lolling out the side of his mouth, and looked towards Narenma. “She’s Marissa, and I’m Tukari,” the black wolf told her. “Who are you two?”

-----’Are you sure it’s a good idea to tell them our names?’ Marissa asked silently.

-----’Of course. It’ll be fine.’

-----’If you say so.’ Obviously, she wasn’t quite convinced.

"I am Narenma." the Phoenix began, smirking lightly. She pointed a wing in Sadron's direction.

Sadron still stood there. The few locks of hair that were peeking out from his hood were blowing gently with the wind. His face was shadowed by his hood, his eyes still clearly not too visible.

"And that's Sadron." Narenma finished at last.

-----Marissa curiously examined Sadron. He looked dark enough to be a dark magician, though she seriously doubted he was. Those were only rumors. “Where did you two come from?” she asked, looking back towards the phoenix. He’d obviously be the one talking here.

-----Tukari settled down on his haunches, just watching.

Narenma let out a deep sigh. "I come from the midst of the forest.." she began, glacing up at the pale blue sky. "And Sadron.." she turned her gaze to the silent Sadron. She let out a ruffled breath before finally ending what she thought was a sappy sob story. "He'd rather not speak about it."

-----Marissa nodded, looking impressed. "So that explains why I haven't seen you two before. What brought you here, of all places?" She subconsciously laid her hand on the back of Tukari's head.

"You see," the Shadow Phoenix began, inhaling sharply. "Our parents were slaughtered.. and so.. we needed somewhere else to go. We didn't really like living where our parents died. So, we traveled for quite a while, but Sadron never seemed comfortable anywhere. But.. that's when we came here, and he.. he finally seemed comfortable." Narenma explained, forcing a tiny smile onto her beak.

-----Marissa nodded, smiling. “That’s great, if you like this little place so much.” Her dark eyes flitted around, examining the surroundings. The village had always been special to her, being her home, but special to outsiders? That was somethign new. “What do you think did it?”

-----Marissa curiously tilted her head, not taking her eyes off Sadron. Mysterious guys like this were just so impossible. She couldn’t help but want to know what made them act like this . . . but, whatever it was, it was Sadron’s business. She wasn’t going to pry.

-----She cleared her throat, reminding herself to look away, and turned her eyes on Narenma. “So, do you guys want Tukari and I to show you around? We’ve been here for years, so we know it like the back of our hands.”

-----Tukari nodded in agreement. “Better, even,” he added.

-----Smiling, Marissa nodded. “Cool, then . . . here, this way. We’ll start at the middle of the village and work our way out.” She set off in that direction; it was where most of the buying and selling of objects was done, and also was the location of the tavern that so many of the men loved to hang out at.

Sadron glanced around curiously, though he never expressed the emotions he felt. He followed her, keeping to his own slow pace.

-----When they reached it, Tukari took a cautious look, glaringly eyeing everyone nearby. Better to be safe than sorry. Marissa simply held a hand out towards the tavern, saying, "Well . . . the tavern. Yeah." She chuckled. "Don't go in there unless you're willing to get sucked into gambling or getting pickpocketed or beat up or something like that. It's . . . not a pretty place, unless you're some freakishly strong man." She glanced warily at it, then headed on. "All the little shops are around here, and this is the area the merchants set up when their little party comes by every spring."

Narenma gave off a slight smile. "Sadron may seem quite quiet, and may tend to appear weak to many, but he is nowhere near that. He has a few tricks up his sleeve. And I'm serious, because he litterally hides a knife or two in there. Plus, have him take off his cloak, and you'll discover more knives and swords then you can count!" she exclaimed.

-----”Huh,” Marissa replied, her slightly wider eyes scanning Sadron again. “Well. Never woulda guessed.” She flashed a grin to nobody in particular. “Well, this here, it’s the armory,” she said as they passed it. There was a noticable din coming from inside, occasional sparks able to be seen from the windows as clangs sounded out. “It’s been busy lately . . . too busy.” She shook her head.

-----”Because of the situation . . . lots of tension with this country and another,” Tukari added, just in case Narenma and Sadron weren’t aware of it.

Narenma noticed immediatly as Sadron came to a stop, peering back at the Armory with and emotionless and shadowed expression.
"Sadron seems quite interrested." she remarked, glancing at Sadron. "I think he desperately wants to trade a knife or two to see what they have." she said, as a thought then occured to her. "Sadron, you wouldn't mind showing them one of your knives, eh?"

-----Curiously tilting her head, Marissa watched the exchange between the two of them. She found herself almost hoping that Sadron would say yes - suddenly she was curious. She wanted to see one of the knives . . . what did they look like? Were they normal? Carved? Small? Big?

-----I bet all of them, Tukari put in, grinning at Marissa. She grinned back, nodding slightly in agreement.

He sighed heavily before carefully pulling out a knife from his cloak. This knife had patters on the blade itself. Patterns of wolves. This was one of his more simplistic knives. Though it this knife was capable of paralyzing his foes.

-----It would’ve been a lie if Tukari tried to tell himself he wasn’t interested in the knife once he saw the patterns. He took a cautious step forward, tilting his dark head and sniffing curiously. There was an odd scent coming off of that knife . . . it seemed powerful. More powerful than any of the other knives he’d seen on people . . . what were the rest of the knives like?

-----Marissa hadn’t missed the wolves on the handle either. She blinked, then glanced at the armory. “Shall we?” she spoke, trying to keep her voice light as she gestured towards the building, though she secretly cringed at the idea of going inside. Being around the smiths . . . they were capable of nearly anything, and she was nothing but an ant next to them. They could do a number of things to her if they so wished, and she wouldn’t even be able to stop them.

Sadron nodded slowly, blinking a few times before glancing back the armory, as well. And before even waiting, he began to make his way there.

-----’You don’t have to follow him, you know,’ Tukari reminded Marissa.

-----She took a deep breath, then nodded a tiny bit . . . just enough to allow Tukari to see, but not so Narenma or Sadron could notice or, even if they did see, think anything of it. Lining her eyes with courage, she replied, ‘I might as well get over this stupid fear eventually.’ Already she was hurrying to catch up to Sadron. ‘Besides, I have you to protect me, right?’ She cast him a smile, but it couldn’t quite get to her eyes.

-----’Of course.’ The wolf hesitated a moment, but at last shook his head at himself and followed as well. There’s nothing to worry about anyway. If she wants to let herself worry more, then there can’t be any harm if nothing’s going to actually happen to her.
