Untitled {open to suggestions for title} **Pretty much finished now**
Kind of a song in my mind, that's what's up with the lines.
Smiles, they fade
Times, they change
But memories
They always stay
Time goes fast
Can't dwell on the past
But I just wish
Those times could last
As time went on
What went wrong?
What we had
Used to be
So strong
Now I sit here alone
All on my own
Just hoping
Your heart
Isn't stone
And if
I
Close my eyes
And go
Back
To before the goodbyes
Will you
Take
My hand and come with me?
Back to when you cared
And when you were there
When my world was falling apart
Can we please just restart?
When I hear that song
And I sing along
It takes me back
It has been so long
When you pass by
You don't even say hi
So I hold back my tears
And sigh
I can't clear my mind
Somehow I find
I just can't leave
My feelings
Behind
The night is so cold
There's no one to hold
This feels like
Every sad tale
That's been told
And if
I
Close my eyes
And go
Back
To before the goodbyes
Will you
Take
My hand and come with me?
Back to when you cared
And when you were there
When my world was falling apart
Can we please just restart?
*if I could play an instrument well enough, there would probably be an instrumental break here. however, since I can't, when I sing it, expect a pause here.*
I wonder how
We got where we are
Right now....
And when
You
Hear this song
Will you
Know
That we belong
Cuz I
Have
Known this all along
And I go
Back
Back to when you cared
And
I
Remember when you were there
I can
Still
Feel your hand in mine
If you can tell
My world
Has fallen apart....
Can we please just restart?

This is a really great poem. I especially like the part with "and if I close my eyes."

Do you know if you're going to also play it on an instrument?

Re: Untitled {open to suggestions for title} **Pretty much finished now**
Um....there's no chance of that. xD I can kiiiiinda play piano, but only if I see what keys to hit or spend an hour working on the music. I can't compose something. xD

Re: Untitled {open to suggestions for title} **Pretty much finished now**
Ummm.....hmm.....well technically I haven't been "playing" at all cuz I don't know how. But here's the background story on how I know where the notes are and such:
In 6th grade, my band director sucked. He let us do whatever we wanted during lessons for about 3/4 of the time. So I usually went to the xylophone thing. The notes were labeled for the beginners on there. He told me at one point that my music (flute) was the same for the xylophone and the piano. So I started playing my music on the xylophone. He also told me the notes on the xylophone were the same as on the piano. So that's how I learned where the notes are.
There was one song we had that year that I knew (and still know) by heart on the flute. It's a song from Forrest Gump. So I learned how to play it on the xylophone. When one of our concerts was over, everyone started screwing around with the percussion instruments, including the xylophone. So I walked over to the piano and tried it out on there. I had to play Forrest Gump with two hands, even though it was simple. Then my choir director came over and showed me how to play with one hand. I got the hang of it and started playing my other music like that.
Eventually, that ended when we got a new director.
But, over the summer, I went to my cousin's house a lot. She had a really old, staticy electric piano thing. The quality was bad, but I was playing it. I also babysit for kids who have a real electric piano thing so when they were busy, I sat down and stole some lessons from the books. I learned to play a few songs that way. Simple ones, though. Ode to Joy. When the Saints Go Marching In. Stuff like that.
Last year, me and some friends sang the national anthem. My choir director had the sheet music and I was playing that on piano.
One thing led to another and I ended up getting an electric piano for Christmas. It has some built in songs that you can learn to play from a fancy little screen. They tell you what notes to press and so on. I have some of those memorized: Pop Goes the Weasel, Turkey In the Straw, America the Beautiful, Fur Elise, stuff like that.
But I only know how to play with one hand.
I barely can play at all.
Stick piano sheet music in front of me and I'm lost.
I just know the songs I memorized. And I only learned them in the first place because I saw what keys to press. Or I spent weeks going from simple sheet music to piano and memorizing.
I really know like nothing. Here's a list of all the songs I can play:
Forrest Gump song
Ode to Joy
When the Saints Go Marching In
Greensleeves
Fur Elise
America the Beautiful
Star Spangled Banner
Pop Goes the Weasel
Turkey in the Straw
Joy to the World
Spring*
Fly With Me by the Jonas Brothers (sorta)
*the only song I can play with two hands. And that's cuz the left hand only hits two notes the entire time.
