The money thing. xD

So, first of all, a refresh for those who haven't already been refreshed. xD When we made the previous two books, we were originally going to take the profits and use them on credits to get some extra features for Twig (little things, such as our current special domain name, thanks to Ari's donation) . . . and then we decided just to give all the money to my parents because of the money situation so that we could keep our internet and thus allow me to keep running Twig. xD

Well . . . now I don't see that there's as much of a need for that. I mean, not that my parents don't need the money, cus they do . . . but I'm paying for the internet myself now, and I'm not having any problems with that because I babysit regularly . . . so yeah. What I'm asking here, I guess, is what would you guys prefer the money to go to? Should it keep going to my parents, just for the sake of charity? Should we put it towards the site . . . not necessarily for credits, but for the future cost of hosting for when we switch to MyBB? Or do you guys have another idea altogether?

Basically it's going to be majority here . . . I feel awkward voting for this when all the money's in my hands anyway, so I'm giving myself a custom option, but the rest of you vote for whichever you'd prefer, please, and don't worry about offending anyone with your choice. I am personally fine with putting the money towards anything - though if we were to actually spread the money among the contributers, I'd have to say that's not such a good idea because it'd involve collecting personal information, even if via Paypal, and plus I'm bad at math. xD So, yeah.

I think the money should go to your parents. If there isn't enough money to buy MyBB- I wouldn't care at all. The site is awesome now; it doesn't need anything else in my opinion. I think you should be able to give the money to your parents, or even keep for yourself, really.
So yeah. That's my opinion.

Ado, I say give it to your parents. Even if you're paying the internet with your own money, and even if they sometimes aren't the nicest to you, giving it to them would be a nice thing to do and even a little money can help in this situation. I'm sure they'd be very appreciative.
Sophie, MyBB doesn't cost anything - it's the domain and hosting which does. I personally would be able to help cover hosting fees, 'cause I'm such a strong advocate for switching Twig to MyBB. There's no need to worry on that front, at least, if I'm allowed to help.

Okay. ^^ I'm glad you think so, too, then. Cus suddenly I'm realizing how awkward it'd be to say, "Mom, dad, we're publishing a new book but I'm going to need the money." Like, umm . . . xD

And I'm glad you're willing to help pay if it comes to that. *huggle* ^^ Not that I'm necessarily going to assume we will need that, but it'll be a relief to know nothing'll happen to Twig if I lose my funding for a month or something. But I'll really really hope that doesn't happen.

I'm sure that you'll be able to get enough money, but I'll be able to chip in if needed so that our beloved Twig doesn't disappear into cyberspace. xD

MyBB is opensource, Cyn, it's free. The hosting is what requires money. And I'm willing to help pay.

If the worst happens, Ari - not saying it will, but out of curiosity - would we be able to convert Twig back to phpBB? o.0 Or would the only possible way to have a phpBB version again be to keep the current version running?

You can convert to and fro, I'm pretty sure, but the thing is you can't convert it back to forumotion. While you can have a crawler converter, you can't actually put the posts into forumotion from after they're made.
However, there are many free MyBB hosts who take forum databases and will gladly host your site for free, even if you already have 300k posts on it.

I would say half and 2 quarters? A quarter of the money (I don't mean literally 25 cents I mean like splitting a clock into four quarters) to your parents, a quarter to you for internet and half to the site ?

Well, it isn't like it will be the next Twilight or anything, but you know definately that the people of Twig (or some of us) will buy it.

I was thinking...what if you gave some of the money to a charity? Like, to the Make-A-Wish foundation or something. I'm not saying all of it, but just some. You don't have to take this suggestion, it's only my opinion.

That's a good idea, too, Lyss! ^^ I don't have any real objection to that, although part of me is still saying that we might as well actually use it for ourselves since it's not that much money anyway . . . but yes, we should definitely consider your option too.

I think it should go towards your family, personally. Twig was just fine when it was a free forum and if we had to go back to that for your family's well being, then that's fine with me. I think your life is more of a priority than advancing the site, as much as I love this place to death. When things are more steady for you, then perhaps the profit can start going towards the site.

I have a question... You referred to us giving the money to your parents as a sort of 'charity' and then at the voting section one of the options is also 'charity'. Would this 'charity' be like, help feed the homeless?
