Should we switch?
Twig's URL
Thought I'd get all your opinions. xD See, soon we're switching the site to a different kind of forum, as most of you know. And for those of you who don't know, we're going to have all the same posts and stuff, it's just gonna be a different layout and some different features and stuff.
Anyway. Arianna brought up a suggestion from her dad a while back, that perhaps instead of using the url shadowsowner888.forumotion.net when we switch we should use something more professional, like thewritersguild.net or something. So I want your opinion on this now. As a to-be-paid-for site, do you think Twig should switch its url? And if so, what do you want it switched to?
My own opinion is that we should stay with our current url, if only for the sake of avoiding confusion. I'm totally fine with switching if that's what the majority prefers. ^^

Re: Twig's URL
YESYESYESYESYES...
I want thewritersguild.com, but it's $1800. 0_o And thewritersguild.net is already taken.
Maybe writersonlineguild.(net/com) or onlinewritersguild.(net/com)?

Re: Twig's URL
It really depends, IMO. I mean, if it's like Ari says and the URL we want is really expensive, then no, but if it's not going to cost too much more than it already is than yeah. Possibilities could be twig.(com/net), thewritersinternetguild.(com/net), etc. I don't know how much they are or if they've been taken, but...

Ann, you'd still be registered.

Re: Twig's URL
There are certain domains which cost more. Simply because they're worth more. For example, awesome.com is probably worth more than 29hfd9js.com.
Re: Twig's URL
Well, the thing is, Ann, you won't need to sign up on the new one - you'll already be registered and everything. ^^
I would love thewritersinternetguild.com . . . *-* But it's so dang long. xDD Too bad there's already a twig.com . . . hmm . . . well, if people bookmark it then they won't have to worry about such a long name. xD

Re: Twig's URL
thewritingguild(.com/.net) would be cool, but I think writing would kinda ruin the whole fact that Arianna's done an awesome banner and we'd need a new one. ;P

Re: Twig's URL
Remain the same.
So you mean, by typing in shadowsowner888.forumotion.net it'll redirect us to the OTHER site, instead? JW. Just don't want it to be a diffrent site address because then it's bye-bye Mia.

Re: Twig's URL
I don't really care that much. shadowsowner888.com or any variation of thewritersguild is fine by me. Though, I think it would be easier for new members to remember one that was something like 'thewritersguild' because they might forget. I remember when I had just joined the site, I forgot the URL and couldn't get on for like, a month. O.o

Re: Twig's URL
TheWritersInternetGuild.com
ShadowsOwner888.com isn't much shorter, if you look at it. So I don't think length should be a problem ^^
or maybe
TheWritingGuild.com
or
OnlineWriters.com]

Re: Twig's URL
I say keep shadowsowner888.com cuz everyone knows it and such. Why change it anyway? It'll only cause confusion.

I TOTALLY think we should leave it. I've gotten to the point now I can type it without looking.
Besides, I think it's cool.

Re: Twig's URL
Don't you think that shadowsowner888.com isn't very... professional?
It'd redirect to the new domain anyway. :/

Re: Twig's URL
No offence, but I don't think we really need a "professional" domain name. We're not really trying to start a business or something where professional sounding stuff would be better.
Plus, to someone who doesn't know what it is, something like Google may not sound very professional either. Neither does Webkinz. I feel that though people judge professionality (is that a word?) based on appearance or something at first, it's what's on the inside that counts more than on the outside.
So if someone saw shadowsowner888.com and thought it didn't sound professional enough for them and they didn't look at it, it's their loss.

Re: Twig's URL
It's just, for me, Twig's a great site, but many people will look at it and say "huh? What does shadowsowner888 have to do with a writing site?" I mean, I know she's the admin, but a random visitor wouldn't. It's also easier to remember.
Hey, don't get mad at me. I was simply stating my opinion, and in my opinion domain names are very important - thus my choice to not want to stay with this domain. It's your choice; you asked why and I gave you the reasoning.

Arianna: "huh? What does shadowsowner888 have to do with a writing site?"
That's so true. It makes me sound like I want the world to revolve around me, too, which isn't really what I want people to think of me.

Re: Twig's URL
I don't think that, of course, but a lot of people have asked me "What's Shadow's owner eight eight eight?" xD
No one thinks of you that way, Ado. xD
