So, I was browsing and I saw that Ari had recommended to ratty, I think it was, about GIMP. And thus, I decided to make a group! Even if you're thinking about getting GIMP, feel free to join. ^^ This can also be for Photoshop Elements, Paint.net etc.

I ended up not getting GIMP before, because the only tutorial I could find for lineart was for Photoshop, which I already have (even though it was a different version ), so I just did it there. I might end up getting it eventually, though.

Heh, awesome! All of my siggies are made on GIMP and whenever I do photography or something I wanna print out and stick on my wall, I do it on GIMP. Adobe is so expensive!

Tips?: Layers are your friend. If your program has them, by all means, use them.

Path tool... I take it that's the GIMP/whatever equivalent to the Pen tool in Photoshop?

Yep, that's pretty much it.

I have this problem - I'm always scared to have too many layers, so I clump all the coloring on one layer, and all the lineart on one layer. Sometimes there's a tiny bit of shading on another layer, but other than that... xD

It's much easier to use multiple layers, Ari. Why are you scared of them? xD

Well, I like having everything grouped properly. There's usually a background, paper sketch, digital sketch, coloring, shading, shading #2, and lineart layer, so it's not like I don't use them, it's just I don't want them all on different layers. They get so mixed up that way.

I usually name them things like 'face - color' and 'hair - lineart' and stuff like that.

Noah, did you try restarting the program or restarting your computer?

It has nothing to do with the program. Something about the zip files won't transfer onto my computor. Its wierd.

Well, zips are really important. For lots of stuff not just fonts. I hope you get it fixed.

Yeah, I did something like that, but everything's still heaped together. xD Anyway, for my Misa drawing I have: paper sketch, sketch, color, highlights, blank layer (?), eye colors, lineart, face lineart. Is that enough?

Right. Brushes and stuff to. I'm probably just gona switch computors once we get one at my dad's (A desktop anyway) and just re-download everything..if I can find my instalition disks.

I use WinRAR, I think. It says we have the trial version but it still works. (Even though it's been way over 40 days.)
