Aliens?
Do you believe in extraterrestrial life? I do. My opinion is that if we evolved, why couldn't anyone else have? We may never meet them, but I think they're out there somewhere.
What do you guys think?

Re: Aliens?
I really don't know. The idea's kinda cool, so I like to believe it. The Bible doesn't mention anything about sentient life on other planets at all, so I can't go by that . . . but from that point of view, I'd have to lean towards no. After all, if us humans were created specially in God's image, I don't see why God would make any other intelligent life . . . all the same, who really understands how He works?
I don't think we evolved either, though. xD What I believe is that other creatures evolved slightly - like, originally there was just one pair of cats, but those bred and made all the kinds we have now . . . lions, tigers, domestic cats, etc - but that humans were always essentially the same, except now we understand our world better.

Re: Aliens?
Well, I believe in evolution (no offence to anyone who doesn't) and I don't exactly believe in aliens. I don't know if I'm totally not-believing, or if there might be aliens somewhere, but I don't think that there would be forms of life as intelligent as us. Life? Yes, certainly. Life which can talk and make stuff? Not really. xD
Re: Aliens?
I can agree to that! xD I like to think us humans are the smartest creatures. In this world, anyway.
Maybe the aliens are, like, monkeys or something. xD

Good that you agree.

According to the Doctor, bees are aliens. And according to Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, dolphins are.

Re: Aliens?
According to Miss South Carolina, who has a reputation for being extremely smart and well versed in world events: "I personally believe that some U.S. Americans do not believe that aliens exist because, uh, some people out there in our nation don't have maps of the universe and, uh, I believe that our, uh, education like such as in, uh, South Africa and, uh, the Iraq and everywhere like such as, and I believe that they should, uh, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., uh, should help South Africa and should help Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future for our children."
Sorry. I had to include that. Miss South Carolina makes me laugh. xDD Anyway, for my real answer...
There is a lot of evidence that alines have visited the earth: ancient cultures such as sumerians, incas, mayan, etc., have stone carvings and ceramis that depict spacecraft and people wearing what looks like full-head breathing apparatus. The bible (see the book of Ezekiel) reads: "And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the color of amber, out of the midst of the fire.", and it continues: "As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps. It went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning. And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning."
So, yeah. I believe in them.

Re: Aliens?
I believe in aliens.
I mean, I don't know a lot of facts about them to back me up, other than the odd UFO siting, crop circles, Sci Fi movies and all that. XP But I still believe that they exist. In my opinion, it's a huge galaxy out there. We can't be the only ones. Like seriously, do you know how small the earth is compared to the sun? It's like a speck! And us compared to the earth... Well, we're incredibly tiny. I honestly do not believe that a galaxy so enormous and infinite was created solely for creatures as small as us.
...I believe that anything can exist, even if they're too far away for us to see. I mean, why not? After all, not all the science in the world can explain why we're here or what this place is. Not all the religion in the world can explain it, either. No one knows. Let's just face it, we can believe, but no one knows for certain. For all we know, we could be in "heck" right now. I mean, we have to go through some pretty crappy things, right? People get tortured, people die, people feel lonely, etc. Maybe we're all dead and lived on some other world before. Not saying that I think earth is anywhere as bad as "heck" but no one knows. Except for the Gods, of course... But seriously, sometimes it scares me. I have no idea what this is, and neither does anyone else. Okay, so earth is some sort of a planety thing composed of elements and gases and blah blah, but why are those elements here? To provide for us, so that we can fulfill our destinies, whatever the heck they are? But why do our destinies even matter? Why does this even matter? Why do we have to exist... To do good in the world? But why is the world even here...? Augh.
Anyway, back on topic. It's a huge galaxy out there... And I can't possibly believe we're the only life forms. It simply wouldn't make sense, in my opinion. I can understand that people would think that we're the only ones because we're special and God loves us, and I guess it's true. But I believe in the possibility that there is more than one god, so maybe the Aliens live far off in another galaxy with their own god who cares about them just as much.

Sorry, it's a no for me. Please don't rag on me for this, because it is a Christian theory.
God made the Earth on intentions to have daughters and sons to love. He made Earth, and the people on it. In the Biblie, I don't think it says anywhere that there was extratriestrial (sp?) life on other planets.
Just my opinion, of course.

Ah yes, but did the Bible say anything about dinosaurs? There's scientific proof they exist, yet there was nothing about them in there except for mentions of legendary creatures similar to them. So that proves that the Bible isn't always right. It was written by man, after all... Not by God.Kataangluver715 wrote:Sorry, it's a no for me. Actually God does rule all of the universe.
Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth."
And the dinos, well, the idea of them is mentioned in the Bible, but not directly refering to dinosaurs.
Genesis 1:24 "And God said, 'Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to it's kind.' And it was so."

Earth is not the only planet in the universe, fyi. There's a gazillion other planets and galaxies out there. Therefore, what you just said proves absolutely nothing.
Ah yes, but dinosaurs weren't specifically mentioned... They aren't considered animals either. "Animals" is a very, very general term. It could mean absolutely anything. That's like saying that the mention of "wild animals" proves the existence of unicorns, pegasuses, phoenixes, and other mythical creatures.

Ah yes, but dinosaurs weren't specifically mentioned... People didn't know about them until science came to be more advanced. But whatever, that's irrelevant. The reason why aliens weren't mentioned in the Bible was because man wrote it and man had no knowledge of them
Again, it said, "In the beginning, God created the HEAVENS and the earth." Heavens means space, a.k.a., universe. *makes peace sign with fingers* Yes, but God or Jesus talked to the men who wrote the Bible, so the Holy Spirit pretty much wrote the Bible. It did not mention anything even indirectly to aliens. Sorry, but aliens sound like a tall scientific tale to me. And scientists are on my list, soooo.....XD

Yes, it did mention indirect things about aliens... Look at Ave's post on the first page. Though some may argue it could just mean the Holy Spirit, I can also argue that your whole wild animal theory has nothing to do with dinosaurs. So, if we were to completely ignore science right now, I can prove that dinosaurs don't exist just by looking at the Bible. But that would be silly, wouldn't it?
Ah, you may believe differently once you learn more about space in science class. In my opinion, it's ignorant to assume our planet is the only one of an infinite universe that holds life.

Heavens do mean space. You can even look it up in a dictionary, or dictionary.com, because it DOES mean space. I have learned about space in sceince. Just out of the blue, have any rovers ever brought back alien pictures? Or was it planet rock pictures? And sometimes I even doubt that we're the only planet with life, but I do believe it, because even if there was life out there, they would have all died. No water, un-surrvivable tempertures, and no food. I just don't find it even remotely possible.
