Mea gasped several inappropriate things,as the dark circles around her eyes grew more pronounced.

'The book is a rare artifact, very precious as it is often a primary part of The Story. Although it always sides with protagonist, it has rather ruthless methods of manipulation,appearing in anti-hero/sidekicks attic or such on,and afflicting them with Companion Syndrome.Thusly forcing them to follow the hero/heroine however much they don't want too.'

Kayla, finally having lost all desire to keep up, was playing a game on her iPod. The headphones were still in her pocket, just in case she needed to hear. But really, what was the point anymore? They were just going to keep fighting.

A pair of long fingered hands quietly pried the book out of his hands,and bashed him over the head with it.
"Bloody git!"
The leather binding prevented him from getting his head cracked open (as she'd planned) but it did stir up remnants of that awful headache.
