"I'll be able to do it." Tigerpaw stated confidently. She lowered her chest to the ground, her rear up higher in the air, and her tail sticking straight up. She wagged it several times. I know, I'll fake to the left, and then sprint right, then when he comes toward me, I'll jump over him and attack his back! She grinned at her idea and put it into place.

Runningplain wasn't the best fighter himself, even though he knew how to do things. His automatic instinct was to go straight at the opponent. So, forgetting anything else, he did basically everything Tigerpaw predicted.

Tigerpaw smiled as he took the bait when she faked left. She dodged to the right and then jumped over his head and tapped him on the back. "I win!" She grinned.

Pricklestar lay across a thick tree branch, not that high from the ground, a smitten smile on his muzzle. Ahh, Dapplebranch. You'll be mine, soon. It'd be best to do something about her mate after the kits were born. Or kit, by the look of it - she didn't look like she was carrying that many.

His ears were pricked, though, listening for the sound of approaching footfall. He'd have to make himself look more innocent if he did hear anything. Because if they saw him like this, who knew what they'd think he was doing?

A faint wisp of a catscent reached his nostrils. Uncertain, Pricklestar slowly sat up, sniffing the air and flicking his tail. Well, to be safe, I'd better stop daydreaming. But that meant he didn't really have any point to be here . . . so, for lack of anything else, he began to groom his pelt.

I scented the air and recognized Pricklestar's scent, but I wasn't very good at telling how long ago a scent came from.
