The pain stopped. I got back up. "Nothing." I took a hesitant step forward and nothing happened. It was a spazz. I'm okay. I took off towards the river again.

Eagleflight followed, mildly worried. 'He's alright,' she assured herself.

I swiped at a few fish.

Eagleflight watched the fish carefully, then dipped a paw in, scooping a fish up. She then lurged forward, grabbing the fish, and then jumped back before falling into the river.

I swiped and my claws dug into a fish. I brought the fish up and buried it.

Eagleflight buried the fish as well, then lifted her nose to scent the air. She hissed "Fox!"

My eyes grew wide.

The russet fox stepped from the bushes, and growled at the cats. Eagleflight hissed and sprang at it.

The fox growled and bit her.
"No!"

Eagleflight yowled in pain and bit the fox's neck. No fox that ever got in a tangle with the legendary Scarface survived. She bit down hard until she heard a snap, and then the fox let go of her. She jumped away from the falling body and stepped on something that squealed. It was a baby fox, it's ear torn off, one eye missing.

I ran and picked up the baby fox, caressing it. It meant no harm. I brought it back to camp with me as I raced there.

Eagleflight ran after Shrewstar. She caught up to him, and meowed "Can I see it?"

"Sure." I held out the fox, to show her.

Eagleflight gently took the fox by the scruff. The fox cried for it's mother. "Shh, little one," Eagleflight purred, nudging the fox close to her stomach. "You're alright." Moleclaw's eyes widened. "You brought a fox to camp?" Eagleflight nodded, as the fox latched onto one of her teats and began to nurse. "Yes."

I nodded at Moleclaw and licked the fox's head. I would announce the welcoming of the fox tonight. I would make sure she was welcomed.

"Shrewstar," Eagleflight murmured. "Do you want to be the father of this kit?"

"She will have all of the Clan as her family. Moleclaw will suckle her, and when she is ready, you will be her mentor." I looked at Eagleflight.

Eagleflight licked Foxkit, smiling. She was beautiful, and Eagleflight would be the mother of this kit.

[I did use a form..about the same gender relationships, shad said nothing more than a good friendship.] Eagleflight curled around the fox. "I want to keep her," she whispered.

(Oh, right. I forgot.)

I sighed. "She is not going to be a pet. No one will 'keep' her. She will be the same as you and I. Different."

Eagleflight nodded. "I just wanted to take care of her."
