The Garden of Crows

Human beings...
Bleed
And Scream
And Die.
That's all their good for.

She takes the pen, takes the dark ink. She writes on her skin, twisting vines and chains. She brands herself a new identity.

Love?
What is that?
Have I known that sweetness?

She feels her heart beat, each pound bringing back memories of love. She glimpses a prize she can never have. She lets her heart harden, tears dry up.

Here I am.
Queen of this dark garden.
What, Man, what place have you here?

She watches the young man in her garden, some wicked bird of prey. She listens only to her hardened heart's counsel. She licks her lips, anticipation on them.

Man, you have some strange weapon.
Something that softens my heart.
What is this sweetness?
What is this laugh?

She frowns at him. She...She only wants him to laugh again, but her new heart says no. She licks her lips, worry on them now.

You may stay.
But you must stay Forever and Always.
Forever my servant, Forever with me.

She listens to him agree, shocked. She smiles, all she can do to keep it thin-lipped and merciless. She struggles to remain her chains of penance.

He stays, he works.
Tends this Immortal garden.
But one night...

He holds her close, offers the key. She struggles, her hard heart struggles, but his soft grasp...She accepts the offer, they seal it with a kiss.

The vines, they blossom
The chains, they break.
The Ice queen's crown is broken.
A Forever servant, becomes a Forever prince.
