Jake's eyes widened a little bit to see her . . . she looked and smelled kinda sick.

Except for her hair. It was sorta messy, but just really really cute. He managed an awkward grin. "Hey Chloe . . . er, you okay?" When he said it, he did his best not to sound like he was overly worried about her, though he probably was.

Chloe rocked back onto her heels sort of awkwardly, ignoring her sense to burst out into laughter-- which she often did when she was nervous. She had to crane her neck up a little in order to see him better, her being so short. "Um... yeah, sort of. Home sick. It's not contagious," She added quickly, "And it's starting to go away, anyway." She nodded slowly, and then turned red, realizing that she hadn't invited him in. "Um... you want to come inside?" She asked.

He chuckled, grinning a little more. "That's good . . . and sure." He stepped inside, ducking his head to get through the door. Sometimes being so tall could be really a hinderance, though for the most part it was kinda cool. "So, other than being sick, how ya been?"

Chloe was in her bed, as sick as a dog, as her mother jokingly told her. She was curled up in all of her bed sheets, holding a tissue to her nose as she sneezed, high pitched, squeak-like sneezes. Yeah. With this reassuring thought he walked up onto her doorstep to knock on the door.

Stephanie sat down by Alice, glancing at her with a grin, waiting for Jasper to come and give the verdict. Alice glanced up. "I think I'm . . . going to go after them. Just in case."
"Oh . . . good idea," Steph chuckled. They both got up, hurrying up the stairs to make sure Jasper wasn't going to try anything funny.

(*cues scary music* xD)

Her face pressed into my chest, and I stroked my fingers through her hair some more. She seemed calmer, better. I pulled her back slightly, and saw the biggest smile on her lips. My face brightened at hers, and I pulled her back into the hug.

Alice opened the door then, very quietly - she didn't really know why, but the silence made her worried. So if Jasper had just drained her blood . . . she didn't exactly want to sneak up on him. But then her eyes widened when she saw what was going on. Jasper was hugging her, and the most intense looks of joy were on their faces.

Her own drained into one of horror, as she just as silently closed the door, hoping neither of them had seen her peeking in.

"What happened?" Stephanie mouthed, glancing towards the door.

Alice just shook her head.

((My mom is evil. >.> She's spying on me while I type, and she just made me explain to her exactly what I mean by "on-and-off."))

"Crud." I muttered. Amanda looked at me. "What happened?"
"Be right back." I slipped out the door. "Alice?

Alice glanced at Jasper, a frosty look suddenly coming into her topaz eyes. "What?"

Maybe I'm just overreacting, she mused. But . . . we'll see.

Steph's eyes widened a little, and she backed up a few paces - then darted all the way around the steps, not wanting to get in the middle of whatever was going on. But she could still hear from the livingroom . . . so she stayed right about there.

"Are you okay? You look upset." I pulled her into the same hug I had given her for years, the same hug I had given Amanda. It didn't feel the same.

She hesitated before hugging him back, her face softening into a worried look instead of an angry one. To her, this was right. The way it was supposed to be. "I guess . . . er . . . was she upset?" Right then and there, she decided just to dismiss what she'd just seen. Jasper didn't deserve for her not to trust him.

Edward's clone walked into the room, then. Steph had some random way of telling the difference between the Edwards, so she waved awkwardly at him. "Um . . . Hi."

He smiled at her. "Hey Steph." He might've said something more - but then he just so happened to hear what Jasper was thinking. Not about Alice.

As Edward II came up, I became mad at myself. Crud. He had heard. I slipped into the room in which Amanda was still hiding within.

She replied with a slow nod, "I'm trying to catch up with some of my missed art homework." She rolled her eyes, "I don't even know why I take that class anymore." She added. When Jasper suddenly went back into the room, Alice felt rather stunned. What was he doing? She glanced around, her expression bewildered, and then saw Edward. "Hey Edward . . . um . . . what just happened here?" she asked, glancing towards the room.

Edward looked up, wincing. "I'm not so sure you want to know that," he said hesitantly.

Alice's face became desperate. "Please . . ."

"Trust me, the only leech in my life in Rosalie." Chloe said in a quiet and joking voice, so not to wake up Christopher. She chuckled quietly, and shrugged. "He's been fair, for the most part." She replied, getting out a glass of orange juice and drinking it down. When she was done, she set it in the sink, and rinsed it out. "Trust me, if he did bad stuff..." She trailed off mysteriously, chuckling. "Hopefully he doesn't get the werewolf genes. I don't think my mom could handle two." She laughed silently.

Edward glanced towards the bedroom door, his face becoming even more startled. Alice was down in front of him in a flash, looking like she was about to cry. "Edward. Please . . ."

"Are you sure?" he murmured, looking carefully at his sister.

"I have to know. Just tell me," she said desperately.

"Jasper . . . just . . . he's hugging Amanda. His exact thoughts were 'The warm feeling of 'right' came into my body. This was like no other, and I just knew Alice couldn't give me this feeling. Amanda was amazing.' " Alice looked like she was about to cry. "I'm sorry," Edward whispered.

Alice nodded, and raced out into the forest as fast as she could. She needed to get away - she felt like her whole being had just collapsed.

Jake made a disgusted face at Chloe's mention of Rosalie; he could definitely agree with that. "Well, that's good that at least your brother behaves himself," he said, grinning mischievously. "Unlike Rose . . . he'd sure make an interesting werewolf, though. I bet it wouldn't be hard on just your mom - you'd hate to have him knowing all your secrets, wouldn't you?" His face became delightfully devious.

Chloe rolled her eyes, making a disgusted sound at even the mentioning of her little brother poking around in her thoughts. "Ugh." She shuddered, "I'd have to kill him in his sleep. Or give him a mass memory wipe." She suggested jokingly. "And it'd really stink if he would end up taller than me." She grumbled, motioning over to the doorframe of the kitchen. She walked over to it, and motioned to the last recorded height of her. "I'm the same size I was when I was thirteen."

Jake smiled, humored. "Sorry to burst your bubble, but the boys usually end up taller. A friend of mine always used to complain that her little brother was so much taller than her - I think she's probably about your height, too."

"A girl can dream." Sighed Chloe, pushing herself away from the wall, and walking over to where he was standing. She compared her height to his, and puppy pouted. "How tall are you?" She asked, tilting her head back to look at him. She had her head slightly tilted.

Chloe stomped her dainty foot. "Bah!" She threw her hands in the air. "I hate you." She told him jokingly, sticking her tongue out at him in a childish sort of way. "Everyone in the pack has my size against me. 'Well, Chloe, I could grab you by the head and throw ya against a tree if I wanted!' That's what Paul told me when I told him that he needed a haircut." She chuckled quietly.

Jacob laughed. "Well, that's Paul for you . . . hmm . . . I wonder how he'd react if I told him he needed a haircut, though?" A mischievous grin lit his face at the thought. He didn't really have any opinion as to the length of peoples' hair, but if Chloe thought Paul's was too long, he wouldn't mind thinking so, too.
