Now the desktop, is about 9 years old, and yeah . . .
My old desktop, WAS a peice of crap. (As Dad would say . . . "It's running like a one-legged man in a butt kicking contest" Yes. My dad would say that xDD)
Basically, things like Club Pengiun, Neopets, dress up games, junk like that loaded it up (junk websites), along with all the useless graphics in the pics folder, and the useless shortcuts on the screen.
So, I would suggest deleting anything you CAN delete, that's just taking up useless memory on the computer, DELETE it. Also, Favorites Folders alotta memory. I'd delete any sites on the Faves you don't go to, and stop going to pointless site. You know, if you do.

Anyways, the desktop, or what me and my peeps call the Main Frame, was not loading, taking too long to load, internet not loading, not connecting to the internet, etc.
So, Daddy shut 'er down for about 2 months.
-2 months later-
ZOMG IT WORKS! ITS SUPER FAST! WOOT!
Get my point? Now, I'm not saying 2 months. Try 1-7 days.
IF the internet, then, takes more than five minutes to load, let it take another hibernation. (Another ANYWHERE from 1-7 days, whenever you get ansy and want to check it).
Also, clearing ALL broswing history might work.
Now, this is my insanely long advice. LMK if you try any of these >.<
