Chloe's eyes widened a bit, and she grabbed Jake's shoulder, all five-feet of her struggling to hold him back before he would actually hurt someone. She was pretty strong, but of course, Jake was stronger. "People are staring," She muttered, nodding her head over to a group of people looking at them with faces.

Jake struggled against Chloe for a moment before she spoke. Surprised, he looked around, and found she was right. Grinning sheepishly, he waved at the people, trying to convey that it was just an innocent brawl.

Yeah right.

Quil just acted all bright and happy, as if he hadn't been about to be attacked. "Hi!" he said, waving at everyone.

The people just brushed it off, and walked away. Some waved, but some turned away, beginning their conversations that they were having with other people.

Chloe backed off once the people were out of sight, "Watch it next time, 'kay?" She raised her eyebrows a bit.

Jake looked at Quil and said, "Yeah, Quil, got that?"
Still beaming, he said with slight sarcasm, "Sure, Jake, sure. Whatever you say."

"I meant all three of you," Chloe corrected, flicking the three boys each once in the head. She glanced towards the direction of the forest, hearing something snap.
"Hey!" Embry whined, pouting when she flicked his forehead.

"Sure, sure," Jake answered, rolling his eyes. But he heard the snap, too. (Right? xD) "What was that?"
Quil didn't notice. He was too busy laughing at Embry.

Chloe shrugged, catching the familiar, sweet and stinging scent of a vampire. "Vampire." She muttered, pinching her nose a bit. Her nose burned, the smell was just too sweet for her to stand.

"Oh, crap," Jake muttered, baring his teeth. Then he took off towards the scent, running as fast as he could despite all the people around.
"What's with him?" Quil asked, wrinkling his nose. Then he caught the scent, and wrinkled his nose even more. "Oh. Okay."

Chloe sneezed, wrinkling her nose, "I'm going with him. Make sure he doesn't kill something before I get there..." She muttered, and took off, following after Jacob.

And there Mort Rainey--well, Shooter, the bad side of him-- stood, leaning against his propped up shovel, head tilted down, his black hat shadowing his face.

Quil looked at Embry. "Hmm. Should we help them out?"
"You!" Jake snarled when he saw Mort, his face becoming even more vicious. This was the one that'd attacked Chloe. Suddenly he found himself struggling to not explode into a wolf. He didn't want to do that, yet. Right now he wanted the use of his voice.

Mort tilted his head upward, his eyes flashing from gold to a bloody red. He chuckled darkly, "Y'all can call me," He yanked his shovel out of the ground, spinning it around on one of his hands before he dug it into the ground again, "Shooter." His voice was heavily tinted with a country accent.

Shooter tilted his head up a bit more, leaning against his shovel, "And give me one reason why I should, youngin." He challenged, one eyebrow raised slightly.

"Because I said so." Jake's voice was challenging in return, as he took a step towards the weird vampire.

"Hm..." Hummed Shooter, tilting his head up towards the sky, "Shame, really, that I'm going to have to kill you." He 'tsked', and then he lunged. But suddenly, he was pulled back, and thrown against a tree by none other than--
Robert Blackford. He pinned him against a tree, a hand curled around Shooter's throat. He glanced at Jacob, his eyes large. He was a bit different from the other vampires; his eyes were a shocking blue instead of gold.

Jake was just confused now. First of all, who the heck was this dude? Second of all, what the heck was he? He'd guess vampire, but his eyes were the wrong color.

Thirdly - why was he attacking Shooter? That was Jake's job. It wasn't fair.

Robert was accompanied by his mate, Catherine, who appeared suddenly, resting a hand on his arm. Shooter had long been passed out, so he let the man sink to the floor, the shovel and hat suddenly disappearing.
Catherine followed Robert's gaze, and looked over at Jacob. She had golden eyes, unlike Robert's, who were a bright blue. "Who are you?" She asked in a delicate sounding voice.

He regained his wolfness, stretching to his full height and trying to look fierce. Jake didn't know if these two were going to be a threat, so it was better to be on the safe side. "Jacob Black. Lead wolf." He didn't normally use the title, but he wanted to be as threatening as possible. Again, just in case.

Robert stood in front of Catherine protectively, and even though he was a lot shorter than Jacob, he could still be pretty intimidating-- with his serious face and all. His eyes narrowed just a bit, but they quickly returned to their normal size, and he stuck out a pale looking hand. "My name is Robert," He introduced himself. "This is Catherine."

Jake hesitated, and then his face became calm as he shook Robert's hand. "Er, nice to meet you. Thanks for - um - helping." Not like I needed it, he muttered mentally.

"No problem." Robert responded, the seriousness fading a bit from his face, being replaced by a calm look. "We didn't come here to hurt anyone." He told him, slinging Mort over his shoulder, "We just came to get our--" he struggled, for a moment losing his balance, "--'friend' over here. Sorry if he's caused an damage. Long story short, the guy's bipolar, he can't really help himself."
"He didn't kill anyone, did he?" Catherine asked.

"A dangerous bipolar vampire," Catherine emphasised, making sure that Mort wasn't awake. "Well, the side that you just saw now is pretty dangerous. The one that calls himself 'Shooter'." She nodded over to Mort, "But this one's real name is Mort."
"A dangerous bipolar vampire, that wears glasses." Robert nodded.
