It Started With A Lie

It started with a lie,
And then it grew.
I thought it was harmless,
And had no idea it would hurt you.

Just a little white lie,
That snowballed out of control.
Nothing I could do to stop it,
And now you think I'm unbelievable.

If I could go back in time,
And fix my mistake,
I would, but I can't,
So I sit and watch your heart break.

This is all my fault.
I can't shoulder off the blame,
On someone else anymore.
I'm sick of this twisted game.

I can say I'm sorry,
But can you forgive me.
I don't know if you can,
But I can't live without you, see.

It started with a lie,
But it grew into something much worse.
