Soon the show was over-too soon.But then he thought of his meeting,and brightened up.The little singer was an amusing person.

Her voice slightly hoarse, Bri bowed with the rest, to the aplause of the audience they had collected. The marketplace had been bussy, many hadn't minded stoping to listen to a few songs. Two of the boys went out with hats to collect money, and she slipped away quietly, looking forward to meeting the story-teller again, despite herself.

Bri walked slowly back to the clearing, singing softer this time- she didn't have much voice. Tired, she settled down under a tree, as Darius didn't seem to be there yet.

"It was a loud bunch, that's why my voice's so hoarse. No tomatoes or riots, though. That's always a good sign." She winked. "No fat old women yelling that I need to wear a longer skirt and get off the bloomin' stage and into a kitchen."

" 'Course they do," She was on a roll. "I think story-telling is just as real as being, say, a carpenter. They carve wood, you carve words. All the children love your stories." Bri stopped, her voice gone for a moment, then she laughed. "Listen to me going on."

Bri smiled, and puffed herself up like she was giving a speech. "Story-tellers, like you, keep spirits growing, keep people young inside. You keep the old stories alive. If that's not real work, I don't know what is."
