Sleep comes at the weirdest times, in this poem of schooltime rhymes!



I tear the stars down from the sky
And ride them up through space
I'd dance on an asteroid
And tiny comets I would chase

I'd float back to earth on a cloud
like an arial ace
I'd ride along the water
The misty breeze I would embrace

I'd jump upon a heavenly bird
And take a joy ride through the night
I hold the stars like fireflies in jars
on this wondrous flight

The lasts of lights flicker out
as skyscraper lights flicker on
and the dazzling beams of weirder dreams
shine on with the last yawn

I close my eyes and in a bright flash
I'm surrounded with classmates with loud laughs
My face turns red, through my cheeks the color spread
as I realized I had fallen asleep in class.
