In My Dreams

I fell asleep
In the middle of the day
Life went on
As I slept away

In my dreams
I was on a boat
Looking around
At the things out afloat

There were birds of all kinds
Lilly-pads and frogs
There was a cabin on the shore
Made comepletely from logs

As I watched
The view started to change
To something different
It was very strange

I was standing alone
In a forest of green
Trees so tall
The tops unseen

There was noise all around
The source hard to find
I looked left and right
And found it after a time

It was a few little monkeys
With eyes so big
As soon as they saw me
They started to do a jig

Then things changed again
There was snow all around
I looked around me
It covered every inch of ground

The whole place was beautiful
From the snow-covered ground
To the frozen pond
And the sun going down

I woke with a start
Just to see
My sisters and brother
Standing over me

They told me I had been
Talking in my sleep
Saying things like,
"What beautiful sheep!"

It didn't make sense
Even to me
For there had been no sheep
In my dream
