Fox Fire

Some say we are but lore,
Creatures of myth and legend.
Yet we are much more,
With powers beyond what most rend.

A kitsune of fire,
Master of many a guise.
Capable of love and ire,
Causing human and fox to rise.

Few continue to trust,
Blinded by their light.
Putting off what is our must,
Denying vixen sight.

We of many tails,
Paws and hearts of change.
Searching for our spirit's sails,
To glide on the sky's range.

Only another can make us whole,
Carrying our eternal heat.
Joining us to create one soul,
When we meet.

It is our dearest hope,
To wed under misting rain,
Trot into the stars at a lope,
For naught will remain the same.

Now it is I who seeks,
Listening to your soothing lyre.
Wishing to be complete,
Now that I've found my fox fire.

For a friend's birthday present:

Horse’s Love

With eyes of liquid brown,
And a heart beyond measure,
There is no reason to look down,
For a horse is one’s greatest treasure.

A true friend,
Capable of wonders,
At no end,
Caring even in times asunder.

Withholding intelligence and emotion,
Tall and short, large and small,
Bearing unending loyalty and devotion,
One that will remain through it all.

Splashing through the river of time,
Walking side by side,
Like a gift of the divine,
Allowing naught to disrupt the tide.

We may truly sing,
Run more than a mere score,
Stretch our majestic wings,
For a horse’s love causes us to soar.
