I climbed onto another branch, checking the stars. It was five o' clock; the sun would be rising shortly, and she would be able to get out of the tree.
After a bit of watching the werewolf with wide eyes, I finally saw the first rays of dawn. Breathing I sigh of relief, a disentangled myself from the branches and climbed down a bit.

The moon had not yet completely set, though, and it was still at the base of the tree snarling up at her.

I grasped the branch; he wasn't far down, and slipped onto another one. I watched with satification as the moon completely sank beneath the clouds and the sun cast a dim light in the forest.

I felt my human mind returning, slowly regaining control of my body. But I was still a wolf, and I threw my head back to howl as the changes began again. Somewhere in the middle of the howl my vocal chords shifted and the sound changed to a scream, a human scream. It was painful, it was so painful. It hurt both ways, but when I changed to wolf the wild instincts shielded me from the worst of the pain. But now it was gone, and I got the full blast.

And then it was over. I found myself on my hands and knees, my breathing heavy and rasping.

I jumped down from the tree, awkwardly letting my arm fall to my side.
Walking over to the boy I craddled my arm, which was burning.
"Are you okay?" I bit my lip, noting this would start happening to me.

"Yeah," I grunted, forcing myself slightly unsteadily to my feet. My eyes widened as I saw the blood and I swore. "Did I...?"

I glanced down at my arm, titling it so he could see it. It was swelling, but had stopped bleeding.
"Yeah," whispered. Now it was really starting to hurt.

I swore again, hitting my fist against the nearest tree trunk. "Every month," I muttered. "Every. Freaking. Month."

I rubbed my forehead, feeling bad for him.

"No it's not," I said angrily, kicking the tree in frustration, though that didn't do much. "It's all my fault. If I hadn't come in here first year..."

"Well hitting the tree's not going to do anything," I said, giving him a weak smile. "Besides, it's all said and done. And At least now we have something in common." Yep, that's me always looking on the bright side. Not really, but on this occassion.

"Worst case senerio," I agreed sourly. "Now if you mind I need to get to the hospital wing." Perhaps my voice was a bit more caustic than I had intended.

I glanced hesistantly at Jake, then nodded, "Okay, I'll be here."
I turned around, making my way to the castle. And, after a minute I looked back, still walking.
"I don't blame you."

"Don't care; I don't," I shot back, hearing him, and grinning despite my state.

After the tenious walk, I slipped into the Hospital Wing, and then got lectured by the nurse.
"Can't you just fix my arm?" I complained.
"What attacked you, a rabid animal?" She huffed.
"Sorta."

I didn't smile as I made my way back up to Gryffindor Tower, my feet dragging, my head down. This had to end. It had to end. I'd destroyed my brother, attacked my sister twice. I had killed. And now I'd changed someone else, destroyed her life as well.
How long before I killed again? Changed someone else? How long before I didn't make it out in time, got trapped in the castle, and killed everyone?

That day was pure torture. Everyone keep giving my sympathetic glances, patting my hand, or whispering about my broken arm. Which, thanks to that annoying nurse would be healed soon anyways.
"What happened?" A Ravenclaw had asked me. My best reply had been:
"I-I dunno, I can't remember . . . " Then I trailed off and frowned. It worked perfect, but I really, really wish I couldn't remember.

Before Sunset, I slipped out of the castle, heading towards the same place last night. Now that I was a werewolf, I decided to suck it up and act brave. That's what I'm in Grynffindor for, right? Wrong.

I had spent the day avoiding Lizzie and Phillip. Not that it was hard to avoid Phillip; he spent all his time moping in his dorm anyway. But Lizzie kept trying to talk. I'd finally escaped by locking myself in my dorm. I barely noticed when the sun started to dip towards the horizon. When I finally glanced out the window I swore under my breath and sprinted out of the common room.

I pulled out a pocket knife, cutting of the bandage in my arm. It was finally healed, though, my arm had shrunk a few cenimmeters. I sighed, wondering where Jake was. The sun was sinking.

I joined Ophelia in the Forest maybe three minutes before the moon would rise, out of breath. "Run," I panted. "We need to get as far away from each other as possible before we change."
