I shook my head. "You can't fly tonight, they have sentries out, after they saw something last night." I put heavy emphasis on 'something'. "You have to be more careful. If they find that people like us are staying at the school, they'll close it down and send us to labs. Trust me. I know." I looked at her fiercely.

I picked a feather up, fingering it. It was a glossy black, with silvery tints in it. I held it gently. "Karnin." I replied quietly. I glanced up, meeting her gaze. "We should go back..."

"Is he now?" I asked absentmindedly. I slapped a hand over her mouth suddenly, warning her not to say a thing. Quietly, I made the two of us invisible underneath a cloaking perspective, as a searchlight swung our way. I hurried through the trees towards the entrance hall of the dorms, where I withdrew the spell. Panting, I went over to an easy chair and lay in it.
