Kayla had just got out of her home economics class, and made a face. Ick. That hadn't been fun - apparently, she hadn't inherited her father's cooking skills.

I walked, slightly dazed, out of my math class. Numbers were spinning around in my head, making me feel sick. Sometimes I get the feeling they want me to hate math.

Not paying attention, like usual, I managed to knock into someone and drop all my stuff. I went down on my knees, gathering everything as quickly as I could and stuffing them in my messenger bag.

Kayla yelped as she walked into someone - or they walked into her, whichever. "Sorry!" she exclaimed quickly. "I wasn't looking where I was going!"

She was nice. Nicer than most. Kayla let out a laugh, grinning with relief that the other girl wasn't upset. "Yeah, I'm fine. Are you?" she replied, scrambling back to her feet.

"'Course. If I hadn't have run into you, it would have been a wall, or my locker. I never pay attention to where I'm going." I said, shaking my head mock-sadly. "It's an issue I have."
